This webcam is really easy to install. All that's needed is to put the supplied cd into your computer then moments later plug the webcam in to a spare USB port on your PC. Easy. The software that runs with it is simple too and it's easy to record video clips or take still photos. What you'll probably do though is download Skype (or something similar) for free from t'internet so that you can use the camera as a webcam, not just as a -cam. This too is straightforward and it's great to be able to talk to, and see, other people for free, anywhere on the planet. The logitech software has enough little extras to make your webcam image more interesting - like make yourself appear in a 50s sepia vintage style, or hall of mirrors... The camera has manual focus. This works fine as the depth of field is good enough to put most of a room into view; besides, how often do you use your PC from a distance of more than a couple of feet from your monitor or run around whilst doing so. The webcam bracket lets it 'rest' on pretty much any surface or monitor top, mmm great. The built in microphone works fine too, try it out before buying a separate headset, but with the kettle running nearby it suppresses background noise well and gives good enough sound clarity not to overun an online conversation.

Overall: easy to install, easy to use, easy to then add Skype or similar, good enough resolution, good sound, good little extras. No need to buy anything more advanced.

Excellent quality and works with Vista and Skype5
I have Vista and wanted a cheap, but decent webcam to work in Skype and Live Messenger. I installed the software, connected the camera and it works. Can't say fairer than that. It fits onto just about any monitor - TFT, laptop or whatever.
