From the Back Cover
In this third book of The Malloreon, Garion, Belgarath and their friends follow the quest begun in Guardians of the West and continued in King of the Murgos. It will lead them further into the dark designs of Zandramas and the strange ways of demons...
The company now knows that Garion's baby son has been kidnapped by Zandramas and is to be used in a terrible ritual which will make the Dark Destiny supreme. The group, however, has been detained by Zakath, Emperor of all Mallorea, and taken to Mal Zeth, the largest city in the world.
When a dire plague strikes, they manage to escape and, as prophesied by the Seeress of Kell, travel on to Ashaba - but, although they find Urvon, mad disciple of the evil god Torak, and the Demon Lord Nahaz, Zandramas is gone. In a desperate race against time, the company turn east once more to follow her spoor...

About the Author
David Eddings
David Eddings was born in Spokane, Washington, in 1931, and was raised in the Puget Sound area north of Seattle. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington in 1961. He has served in the United States Army, worked as a buyer for the Boeing Company, has been a grocery clerk and has taught college English. He has lived in many parts of the United States. His first novel, High Hunt, was a contemporary adventure story. The field of fantasy has always been of interest to him, however, and he turned to The Belgariad (published by Corgi) in an effort to develop certain technical and philosophical ideas concerning that genre. Eddings currently resides with his wife, Leigh, in north-west America.
Customer Reviews
You can't put it down!
An absolutely fantastic book which I couldn't put down. I recommend reading the series so you understand the characters and the story line before this book. This is the only set of books I can read over and over again. David Eddings portrays the characters in such a way that you can't wait to see what will happen next. Well worth the time and money.
This is a FANTASTIC book!
The book continues where number 2 leaves off with silk, Garion and the rest. They continue the quest to find Garions child. The book is well written(as always) by David Eddings with the characters being described in such detail and once picked up, the book cannot be put down. I recommend reading the others in the Mallorean saga before this one though or you will not understand the plot.
Altogether a fantastic read!
pretty good
Another wonderful Eddings book! I waited about 3 months before I had money to spend on books, and boy was it worth the wait! It brings you all the best characters, plus a few interesting plot twists and his charming character dialogue. Thinking back on it, the book didn't actually cover that much ground, but its so well written and you race through it so quickly that it's over disappointingly soon.
