Product Description

Did you know that most rats are the equal of dogs and cats in intelligence, playfulness, and personality? In fact, your own pet rat is extremely social and trainable, and he's just waiting for a chance to show you what he can do. Written by internationally recognised expert Debbie Ducommun, The Complete Guide to Rat Training teaches you how to have fun with your pet rat while keeping him fit and happy. The step-by-step format thoroughly and concisely covers a variety of training topics, including basic and advanced trick training, games and science projects, clicker training, positive reinforcement and behaviour modification. The authoritative text explains how to read rat behaviour and body language so you can more easily communicate with your pet. It includes plans and instructions for building training equipment such as mazes, obstacle courses, and intelligence tests, and it also provides tips from professional animal trainers who have trained rats for the entertainment and technical industries. By teaching your rat how to do tricks and play games, you'll not only have hours of fun but you'll ensure a long and happy home life for your pet.

If you want a laboratory rat - work in a lab...2
Having just got a couple of rats - the first I had for a number of years. I thought it might be fun to teach them a few things. Rats are intellegent creatures and love to problem solve.

Previously I have just rearranged their cage, hidden food and given them new obstacles to cross to get a treat. I thought that with a little time on my hands I could be a bit more creative with my current two rats.

I found the book to not suit what I was after. The premise seems to be around building mazes etc. I don't want a lab rat just new ways to entertain my furry friends!

I think the book is too technical for your basic pet owner but would suit a budding scientist!
