A lovely first bible
I bought this bible as a gift for my daughter for her service of thanksgiving & blessing and am so pleased with it! I can't wait to read the stories to her and then as she learns to read, for her to enjoy them for herself. 'My Very First Bible' is beautifully written and illustrated without being 'twee' in any way. The stories are easy to understand without being too simplistic and the pictures are colourful and vibrant (as the one on the front cover). I love the fact that Psalm 23 is written as a short, child-friendly poem. The last story is about Jesus being alive and the disciples spreading the good news: 'Jesus is alive, proving that his message is true: God wants everyone to give up bad ways and come home to a place of goodness. God welcomes us all as friends.' What a lovely version of the gospel! I'd say this bible is a 'must have' for all 0-7 year olds!
Great book for toddlers
This is a brilliant story book for toddlers. Our 18-month old selects it from the shelf every night - he asks for either the 'Baby' book (Jesus stories), the 'Lion' book (Daniel), the 'Ark' book (Noah), 'Whales' (Jonah) etc. All have grabbed his attention.
The vivid, clear pictures include lots of details that make this a treat to look at. The text is simple with short sentences that are easy to embellish to make storytime fun. The stories (not suprisingly) are the best - strong but simple moral tales to give a starting point for discussing the role of God in your child's and your family's life.

I wanted this as a Christening Gift for my nephew. I had seen it in Borders but their copy was a bit grubby so decided to buy on line. The copy that came to me had a different cover to that shown on the site, which was not as nice as the original. The old cover was more traditional for a keepsake whereas the new cover is a bit more of a normal kids book cover.
I am a little disappointed but no time to return it.
Other than that am happy with the book as I looked for ages for one that was not too limited to baby words or too full of text for an older child. This hits the mark on being good for kids under 10 with very engaging, brightly coloured pictures.
