drone on
This author has accomplished the impossible. Despite the fact that I loathe Celtic music, she has managed to make the history of Celtic music not only interesting, but downright hilarious! Once you get to the bit about the O'Neils, you'll be howling too.
Unlike most readers who pick up this book, the subject matter was of no previous interest to me - life decided it was time for me to learn something about the dreaded Celts. Ms. Czulinski taught me far more than I ever wanted to know, and ensured that I thoroughly enjoyed it, despite myself. Anyone who actually likes Celtic music or who actually knows anything of the history, would likely "get" far more of the jokes than I did, and would probably find it even funnier than I did. Yet I actually laughed aloud, not having any previous knowledge at all.
To me, this is a sign of a good, engaging and entertaining writer. If she can make me laugh at Celtic music, she's brilliant. I'm looking forward to her next book - whatever topic it happens to cover!
