    Disappointing1
Having been a fan of Terry Pratchett books for many years, I was excited about the prospect of a game. It is, unfortunately, rather disappointing. The rules take a while to work out, the first few games end up rather one-sided, and then the boredom factor sets in. After a few tries the box has ended up behind the settee gathering dust. Sadly the imagination that goes into the books has not gone into this game.

    Lovely Pieces, Terrible Game1
I saw the glowing reviews of this game and felt it was my duty to add a dash of realism. This game is terrible. I love Terry Pratchett's books but the game's discworld theme is just pasted on. It is not original at all. It is pretty much a rip off of the public domain game King's Table (Hnefatafl). Unlike King's Table however this game is broken. A single and in my opinion obvious strategy on the part of the trolls makes it impossible for the draves to win. The pieces are really cool but they are the only good things about this game. If you want a good fantasy book tie-in boardgame try War of the Ring or A Game of Thrones.

Forget the Dwarves and Trolls Bit....5
and just open your mind. A little wider. That's enough.

OK, so what we've got here is an incredibly original and clever game that (yes) is based upon a fantasy novel series (or rather, a game from within it) but is not just for fans of the genre.

It's Looks at first like a meeting of Chess and Draughts, but with a dash of originality all it's own, which makes it simple to play quickly, but hard to play well.

2 sides, one strong, slow, low number of high value pieces, the other fast, weaker and worth less per unit. The game will etach you to use both a hammer and a feather to win, as a full game consists of playing one round as each side.

There's even leagues avialable to this game, that's how die-hard the discworld followers are, in many ways, it's more real than this world (and better, as you don't pay taxes to the government!)

try it, you won't be dissapointed.

(Oh, and PS, the kings game, which I assume was from Diamond And Bhrain, was a one move win on either side! :)
