If you only buy one yoga book...
This book by Swami Janakananda Saraswati has been extremely useful to me in my ten year practice of tantric yoga. I find myself returning to it again and again, and of all the books on yoga I have amassed over the years I find this has been by far the most useful one. Swami Janakananda explains the philosophy behind yoga without preaching (rare to find!) and in a way that can benefit anyone, regardless of their level of understanding of tantric thought. I find that the programmes are very useful; rather than have to piece together a programme yourself you can find one in this book that will leave you feeling balanced and relaxed. If you combine it with the excellent Yoga Nidra CD you can finish your practice with a relaxing yet rejuvenating relaxation.
Excellent all-round yoga books
I've read lots of books on Yoga and have practiced for over 10 years. This is one of my favourates -- it gives a great all-round treatment of the subject. Some Yoga books inspire me in my Yoga practice, others don't. This one does. Might also want to try "The Sivananda Companion to Yoga" by Swami Vishnu Devananda.
great book. Clear pictures, simple instructions.
This is one of the most beautiful books I have ever seen. Using the programmes in it has probably saved my life and thats no exageration!
Great introduction to hatha yoga, pranayama and meditation. Go on, buy yourself one. Buy one for your best friend too !
