playing and sound quality of the highest order
I bought this recording in '86 shortly after purchasing my first CD player, and it remains a demonstration disc to this day. The acoustics of Walthamstow Assembly Hall, together with the woody timbres of the wind soloists, clarity of string playing and Hogwood's light but passionate direction combine to make this, in my mind, one of my all-time top ten. 'Nuff said!

Thoroughly uplifting
I bought this on the strength of doug's review. His words are spot on. The playing is fluent without being syrupy and the recording is crystalclear allowing you to feel the texture of the individual instruments. Itis a veritable tonic for those days when life needs a lift.
