DAB on the move
I don't normally write reviews but after looking at the most recent reviews of this product I had to give my very different experience of this product. I have had DAB radios for many years and this Sony DAB radio is the second portable one I have owned. The first was fine but did not have preset stations which was very annoying and is not a problem with this model. I find the reception is excellent. I live and work in central London and use the radio commuting on the bus and occasionally the train. It is very rare for me to lose reception on either mode of transport. I also ride a motorbike and listen whilst on the move and maintain reception whenever it is available. I therefore don't understand people who say it cannot be used on the move. As with all portable DAB radios I have tried it really struggles for reception in shops but works fine in the office and the home. Overall I think this is an excellent product and well worth the money.
XDR-M1: Putting the C in Rap
What can I say? I looked long and hard at the reviews for this and others. The Sony won as it had FM reception. Bad move. I live and work in very good DAB and VHF reception areas. FM is terrible, both on local and distant transmissions. DAB is great if your still and have no intention of moving! So forget portable, that it ain't.
Result: given it away to some to use in their office and will wait till there's something better.
Stay clear is my opinion.
Sony DAB protable radio
Very poor product. I expect better from Sony, I have found it basically no use in most locations, although I have other digital radios that work. Should have really sent it back !
