Tomy Walkabout Digital3
We bought the Tomy Digital Walkabout monitor as it had all the features we were looking for. The alarm that is mentioned CAN be switched off, via a switch in the battery compartment on the parent's unit.

You are still alerted to the warning of the temperature out of range by the flashing LED on the parent unit. It will flash continuous for lost contact, 1 for temperature out of range, 2 for low batteries in baby unit, 3 for low batteries in parent unit, and 4 for a code mis-match. If there are no warnings, the LED remains solid.

In case other people have the same monitor, you have 2 transmission channels and 4 selectable digital codes giving you up to 8 different variations to avoid the same settings as other people. I am pleased to say, we haven't had to mess about with these. We have very good sound quality and NO interference whatsoever.

The night light feature on the baby unit isn't too bright, just right. I am currently using it in our bedroom as daughter is only 8 weeks old, saves me waking up hubby when I need to sort our daughter out.

To save battery power in the parent unit, you can have sound or sound and lights. With sound and lights, you can turn the volume down to have it on silent but still see the noise levels.

A very versatile baby monitor for the price we paid.

Hope this helps..

A complete waste of money1
We bought these digital monitors, thinking that for the money they must be good! How wrong were we! From the outset the sound quality was very poor - crackling and hissing no matter where we placed it. Also, the temperature monitor, although a good idea - drove us nuts, simply because once the temp reaches 23c in the nursery, the parent unit sounds an alarm that just won't quit, and no way to turn off the alarm without switching off the monitors completely. The only way to stop it was to cool the baby's room (impossible in the middle of summer with no air conditioning!) or turn it off! I suppose it would be fine for the cooler months, but from June to September it was rendered useless in our household. We sold it and bought the standard (non-digital) Tomy monitors....much cheaper and they work a treat!

Very dissappointing1
I bought these monitors for my second baby so that I could check the temperature of the nursery from downstairs. As far as monitoring the temperature these monitors are excellent...but thats where the excellence ends!

The sound quality is very poor with lots of crackling and buzzing. You have to have the volume on the parent unit on full to hear even the louder noises baby makes. The parent unit also has lights that are supposed to light up when baby makes a noise and you have the option to turn the sound off and just rely on the lights to alert you when baby is awake. However the lights do not light up when baby is just starting to wake and takes the baby crying out loud to trigger the light display on the parent unit.

I do not recommend these monitors as I found them very dissappointing. I used basic philips (non digital)monitors for my first child, which I found to be faultless. I would recommend those overs these monitors to anyone.
