Pedestrian Box Set
A nice updating of a perenial Lego add-on set. This time, instead of the usual six mini-figures we get four and a small amount of accessories. This adds a nice twist to a familar theme, and its pleasing to road signs return to Lego City. The four figures are great, a policeman, city worker, hippychick (hey, she's flowers on her top!) and grumpy fella in a red cap (I give him the sack trolley, so he's something to grumble about!). The addition of a park bench, fire hydrant and traffic light make for a bit more play value too. There is one particular downside though. Its quite an expensive set - £6 does seem a lot for what you actually get- most of what you pay for seems to be the preposterously large box! The other slight niggle is the use of decals rather than tampographed pieces - common to nearly all Lego sets these days, and doesn't really add more play value, just more frustration as you try to apply them carefully! The only other criticism I can think of, which can be levelled at the whole city range, is the lack of places for your mini-figures to go. There's no post office, restaurant, bank or anything like that for your figures. Just emergency services, the harbour or er, building site for them to visit. I do hope Lego expand the City range to contain some of these more mundane features; we don't all have the budget for the Creator house sets or the likes of the Greengrocer's.

As usual from Lego a highly durable item for which the fun and educational value is only limited by the child's imagination. For my son this set works well with the various city items like police statioin and fire station which he already has.
