Customer Reviews
Very pleased
My mum needed a new PC so she trusted me to buy this laptop on her behalf. I chose it mainly because it has Vista Premium (rather than Vista Basic) and comes with 2 Gb of RAM installed, which seems to be the minimum according to advice I have been given. The monitor is a standard 15.4" widescreen but is clear and bright. The pre-loaded software includes a DVD editing suite so you don't need to pay for something else. The hard disk is a conservative 80 Gb but that should be fine for most standard users. Overall it suits my mum's requirements very well indeed and I am really impressed with it too.
Serious Boot-up Problems
Had this laptop for 2 days, bought it for my daughter to take to Uni' & already arranged to have it sent back to Amazon because of serious Boot up problems.
Note another Amazon reviewer has had similar issues with this Laptop.
Repeated attempts to turn on fail, and when occasionally it did boot up the screen would suddenly go black and machine will freeze, it will only respond to the "OFF" button at this point! Tried disabling quick start but that didn't help, haven't been able boot into safe mode or BIOS to help resolve. Tried it with the battery in and out, still nothing, and am sick of trying now.
Was also concerned about unpleasant noises emitting from the laptop, sounding like something is seriously struggling to get it together.
I have since read on the Internet that the bios for some Acer machines may be to blame for problems such as this, depending on the motherboard installed. But I can't be bothered to FIX a brand new machine so it has to go, I await my refund :(
good product
a very good laptop, worth the money, minus points are ..touchpad,has a mind of its own sometimes.vista..my camera wont work with it,memory hungry.acers own software...pointless.installed software..only trial versions.plus points..well built..fast..nice screen..all in all the problems are more a personal choice, this is a bargain, just bear in mind its not a games machine,it has small speakers and the graphics card wont handle them.for everyday internet, word processing, image manipulation, homework, you wont find many better.
