Customer Reviews
Shame that nobody has reviewed these yet, because they rock!
Out of my sub 50 collection, these have to be among the most enjoyable headphones I have. I got mine from Planet Gizmo. Small enough to be portable, comfort 3 stars out of 5. The clamping effect gets tiresome quite quickly, and unfortunately for that reason, I find long term listening can be a fairly uncomfortable affair.
The sound is slightly leaning to the confined instead of open, but not as bad as some AKG's I heard. These are not free of the commercial/consumer sound tampering though. The bass is extremely heavy at times, but they dig down deeper than any headphones I've yet to try. At times you might want a break, but the speed and timing is there as well.
Coming from my Roland RH50 (THE most relaxing natural headphones I've ever heard) headphones to the AKG's you'll get a feeling that the EQ has been seriously tampered with, but no more than your average Sennheiser or Ultrasone's.
Even with that said, I would encourage all with in the sound of my voice to buy them, now! Bar the slight comfort issue, I would pick them above my much-loved Sennheiser HD212 headphones.
Recommended? Oh, absolutely!
Absolute dreams!
A great product from AKG. Really good sound quality compared to the Sony MDR V150's I was using before, and even though they are 3x the price, you can really notice the difference, and it is definitely worth it. They have a much better reproduction of sound, I'm starting to hear things in songs I've never heard before, which is always a treat.
I only gave them 4 stars because they do clamp pretty hard on your head, though I have resolved this by leaving them stretched over my computer stack for a few nights, and now they are perfectly comfortable.
These are the new model of the AKG K81 DJ, though the only difference is the black furnishings as opposed to silver on the ear cups.
I recommend these to anyone looking for really good quality sound from headphones under £50. They are also really well made, very solid and seem durable enough to take a fair battering at a club for DJing and live to tell the tale. I looked at the Sony MDR-V500, but thought better of it and went with these. 2 year warranty is reassuring too.
Best
