    All the GPS I need4
As someone who records GPS data rather than navigates with it, I carefully studied what was available in 2008 and narrowed it down to the 76. Since then I've got to depend on it to help me produce guidebooks incorporating waypoints for readers - as well as logging (recording) a track or piste (and even an elevation profile) to help draw maps later (using Mac GPSPro software - Garmin Map Source doesn't really support Macs AFAICT).
Looks like matey below mistook the 76 for a Tom Tom car-type sat nav and so gave a bad review - he's not the first. Sure it comes with a crap UK & Europe map but with the 76's expandable memory there are now plenty to download and import off the web for free so you don't have to buy from Garmin. Even then it will still make a poor car sat nav as that tiny screen is only readable at walking/cycling speeds.
Perhaps because the screen is small I've found the 76 can last up to 3 days walking on a pair of Duracells if kept in a warm pocket, and the expandable memory means you can record high-interval tracklogs for greater accuracy. The solid build means it can be strapped to a trailbike or MTB, dropped or got wet without damage and you can get to pick exactly what info you need with the customisable interface/screens. It's so much more functional than the dreadfully basic Etrex I've borrowed from time to time and can trace its user-friendly and user-useful features back to the classic old Garmin 72. A bigger screen is all I'd wish for.

    What no map!3
Ok that's not true, I can see the M54 and the A41; oh and you get a good outline of the Country but no detail. The unit itself seems quite well built but the manual starts at the wrong end i.e. it tells you how to use it before it tells you how to set it up. So far I'm pretty disappointed given the great reviews I've read, I was expecting more in the basic package; I did not know that I would have to put my hand in my pocket again to buy even a basic map of the UK. I suggest anyone thinking of buying the 76Csx or any other Garmin product looks at the reviews of the UK TOPO maps. I still might send this back to the seller!
