Manufacturer's Description
The travel version of award-winning Blokus. Blokus Duo is the perfect on-the-go strategy game for two! The simple rules take less than a minute to learn, yet the game has the depth to challenge both beginners and experts alike. Each player chooses a colour and takes a set of 21 pieces. The first player places a piece of their choice on one of the two starting points. The second player than places a piece of their choice on the second starting point. Each new piece must touch at least one other piece of the same colour, on the corners only! Pieces of the same colour cannot be in contact along an edge. However pieces which are not of the same colour can touch along the sides. When the two players are blocked, each one counts the number of squares they were able to place on the board. The winner is the player who has the most number of squares on the board.

Great fun. Enjoyed by all the family from 8 to 73
Ideal for all the family. It only takes 10 minutes or so to play and everyone enjoyed it. It is an ideal game for travel, holidays and home especially when you want to play a short game. On holiday, the grandchildren got creative and made a league so everyone played each other and a prize was given to the ultimate winner - the one with the minimum score.
We love it
We had seen the 4 player version in a games store in New Zealand and had it demonstrated. We didn't buy it because of luggage space, but when spending the last bit of currency at the airport, we bought this two player version.
All of us love it (ages 11, 13, 35, 37!) - we are getting very smart at it now! The game is part strategy and part luck. The object is to get more of your pieces onto the board by the end of your game than your opponent. Think tetris, with an evil, competitve edge!
Would highly recommend it, particularly as the game only lasts 10 - 15 mins.
Addictive Anti-Tetris Game
The aim of this game is, essentially to block your opponent off the board. Your pieces, in orange or purple, look like they came out of Tetris, each of your tiles being comprised of between 1 and 6 units.
Making sure your pieces touch corners with each other, you have to make it as hard as possible for your opponent to put their pieces on the board. Eventually as the game goes on, it reaches a point where either one or both players give up, and who ever has the least pieces left wins. As usual, a simple concept, executed smartly.
As mentioned in another review, the packaging is not great, the storage is flimsy and the feel is that of a toy which ought to be a travel toy, but isn't.
Having said that, I didn't buy it as a travel toy, so that doesn't bother me. Because there are very few rules to grasp, young children should be able to get involved, however they need to have a bit of a strategic head, and patience!
