Carrier Bag Ecology
It really does make sense to use plastic shopping bags as bin liners and dare I say a minor ecological victory given that the bags are being utilised again instead of buying even more plastic in the form of bin liners that get filled with shopping bags. The simplehuman solution is a well designed way to carry this idea out if you forgive the pun.
The bag handles slip over the side bars and the lid closes over the entire opening in a few seconds while bags are stored below. A note of caution is that installation has to be accurate if you wish to place under sink as the unit is 480mm high 320mm wide and 200mm deep exactly.
I gave 4 stars as the device could be improved by adding an automatic opening mechanism which I will add myself with a bit of string and two hooks: One end attached to the lid and the other to the inside of the cabinet if you want to try too.

Great cabinet door waste bin.
I am very pleased with this product.It's well made, not flimsy at all, and is easy to fit, though I had to apply a thin sheet of mdf to the back of the door in order to prevent the screws from going right the way through to the front of the door. But -it was worth it. The design is well thought out, and it is designed to last. I would recommend this to anyone needing a convenient
small waste bin.

Good bit of kit, but beware of the size
This is a well made and strong bit of kit. We purchased it to go in the undersink cupboard, but sadly it won't fit. BEWARE. Our doors are 40cm wide, and it doesn't fit. You need at least a 50 cm door to put it on. This isn't stated anywhere. It also says in the instructions to mount it 2.5" in from the edge of the door. Check this first, as ours would have to be at least 3.5" in in order to clear the side of the cupboard which then pushes it too close to the other side so the door won't close. Also the bag storage bit is huge and takes up a lot of space. It holds up to 50 bags. Quite why you would want to store 50 bags is a bit of a mystery to me, but again it makes it difficult to fit. If you are fitting it under a sink, then also take into account that it has to hang lower on the door to clear the sink. In our case this meant that the lower door hinge was now in it's way.

So although we really like it, we are unable to use it so it will be returned.
