One of those "I should have thought of that" ideas !5
    I have a wood burner
    I have a paper brick maker ..
I have a dustbin around the side of the house which I put my shreddings into.
I spend time to rip up news papers that next door bring around for me.. After a weeks soaking
I get messy and squeeze the bricks then leave them somewhere to dry,,. all in all such a laborius exercise that i do it once a year in the autumn until it gets to be a pain.
    I stop doing it !!

So when I spotted the Briquette Bands I thougth that the idea must be too simple to work.. Last night I dutifully rolled up a couple or three Times suplements and "yammed" on the Steel Band.
I chucked it on the burner which was ticking over nicely... And nothing spectacular happened .. I had you see half expected it to some how unfurl and become a scene from Dante in the living room..

But No it ticked along smoldered then burned for a good time .. differant paper differant length of burning heat ect try the old yellow pages you have kicking around I have !! ( oh and the waste A4 paper that I generate from my office ever week rather than shreading went up in my "tests" last night..

The real world bit is that as a single source of combustion I think you would be out of luck , however combined with either small amounts of wood or coal derivative as base layer this will really cut down on using other fuels.

Yes it does produce quite a lot of ash, yes I did have to fish the bands back out of the fire this morning to "re roll" but thats quite satisfying...

I'm going to order 1 or 2 more sets so that I can have 12 logs prepared so that my wife can chuck them on during the day for free background warmth.... I'll be up and down the road next recycling day to raid the newspaper!!!!

In one night I've had 5 quids fun at the least !

    Good but not great3
These worked quite well and give off quite a bit of heat, however, they do require a lot of paper per band. I had to roll 3 whole papers (free Metros from the train) per band.

The big downer for me is that the main source of air for my mixed fuel stove is from beneath and the large amount of ash from the masses of paper tends to clog up the air holes.

If you have an open fire then this probably won't be an issue.
