Synopsis
Singles are the fastest-growing sector of UK society today. Meals of restaurant quality are prepared while they work. Whatever you feel like tomorrow night: Italian, Chinese, Indian, French. Something to look forward to every evening. Doesn't this sound like a lifestyle proposition that your single customers will buy into? Slow cookers are back in fashion as sales figures prove. And singles are now the fastest-growing part of society. This book brings them a lifestyle change for the better. You don't have to do much work, but the machine feeds you like a VIP. If you're interested in food but can't be bothered...then this is the perfect answer. Imagine yourself getting back from work to the smell of well-cooked goodness as you walk through the door. You're returning to a home, not a space. That's how the slow cooker changes lives and once we have a slow-cooker convert, yet more recipes become important to track down, so more books will be sold. Isn't this beginning to look like a perfect circle!

Slow cooking :a winning little cook book ....5
This is an excellent cook book, one of the best I have come across for slow cookers. Its aimed at one and two portion meals, but these portions can easily be scaled up for larger households. I have many cook books (Nigella, Delia and Jamie etc) but I can honestly say I have made more dishes from this single book than any other book I own, in fact, I have nearly made them all!

Where I felt the recipe needed tweaking, or the cooking times didn't suit my particular slow cooker, I have written this at the bottom of the page. I have also listed at the back the recipes I have tried : helps you to find them again quickly.

Buy it! It goes beautifully with the small size (1.5 litre) slow cooker on sale in Lakeland, and the two together would make a very thoughtful Christmas gift.

Winning recipes:

coconut salmon steak
peppered venison steak
mexican bean chowder
chicken curry
tuna fish steak with red pepper
oriental spiced beef
lentil and veg casserole
- but there are lots more

Well done, Catherine.

Just excellent!5
What an excellent book. It has lots of really good recipes, all layed out very nicely and portions that make sense from the start e.g. for 1 or 2 people then double up as required.

What sets this book apart from the others i've purchased is it's scope. It's not just a list of ingredients, there lots of really good advice, tips and info that just make all the difference. You're given lots of smart tips throughout the the book on each recipe. The author describes each dish as well which is really nice as alot of the time with other books the names themselves mean nothing to me. Another thing i like as well is the layout, each dish is set out on a single page and is very easy to follow.

Big thumbs up from me, a slowcooker novice :)

A gem amounst slow cook books!!5
I bought a slow cooker for my daughter to take to uni with her. Then I began the hunt for a quick and easy to follow cook book with lots of delicious and interesting recipes. After trawling through a lot of books, and I mean a lot, I came accross Catherine Atkinson's 'Slow cooking for yourself'. Bought it, and was delighted with an excellent mixture of recipes to match all tastes (even vegetarian). All in all, if you follow this book you will end up eating extrememly decent food. The friendly cooking advice, tips and even suggestions to what to do with left overs are a welcome added extra. All recipes are for 1 or 2 people but ingrediants can be doubled up for a family. I was so pleased with this book I am about to order another for myself!!
