The original HP 940 Officejet ink cartridges provide laser quality black text and outstanding colour graphics, all for up to 50% less cost than laser.** HP 940 original ink cartridges are touch dry in seconds and colours are completely water-fast when printed on plain paper. Text stays black and colour retains vibrancy for decades without fading. Plus, save money with individual inks by only having to replace the colour that has run out.
Only Original HP ink cartridges are made by HP, for HP, and are brand new each time. Independent research by Innovationstechnik confirms that the quality and usability of pages printed with Original HP inkjet cartridges is consistently more reliable than those output from the remanufactured cartridges tested. 1 in 5 compatible cartridges fail prematurely or never work at all.**
High-capacity (XL) cartridges offer even greater value with increased page yield. Ideal for higher volume users.

HP Bright White Inkjet Paper with ColorLok technology is the ideal choice for colour-intensive documents such as proposals and newsletters. HP ColorLok technology is a breakthrough in paper standards; producing sharper, more vivid images and bolder blacks. Look out for the full range of HP Everyday Papers with the ColorLok logo.
HP Professional Inkjet Paper is a premium weight paper that is ideal for printing documents with vibrant images, such as reports and presentations. A bright-white coating provides high contrast for both colour and text.
For optimum results, always use original HP inks and paper.
*Based upon cost per page and energy use results comparing the majority of colour laser printers (all in one <600€ and single function <300€) as at June 2008, using Officejet Printers with max. fill cartridges. Energy use based on HP testing using the ENERGY STAR® program's TEC test method criteria.
**Based on average results of brands tested in 2006/2007 by Innovationstechnik GmbH. Test commissioned by HP. Testing performed on HP 45A, HP 78A, HP 56 and HP 57 Inkjet print cartridges. Individual results may vary.

First Impressions - After One Week
This connected easily to my wireless, is a breeze to set up, and easy to use. One touch scan to network folder is great, and flexibility is very good - copy 1 sided document to 2 sided, with 2 pages on each side, and then print in draft mode! saves a lot of paper / time / ink.
The only bit you need to install on computers is the printer driver, every thing else can be set up and managed through a built in web server, so you can access from any machine.
you can even see how many documents and how much ink each member of your family / business has used!
it is very fast in draft mode, not so fast in 2 sided or colour, however i recommend for any home user that needs scan / fax / copy, and for any business where it will be shared amongst a small team.
You probably still want to go for laser for anything in constant use.
Overall very impressed. Some reviews claim lots of problems installing under Vista, however no problems for me there either.
a few very minor niggles: it is easy to touch the wrong thing on the touch screen as it seems to not be as accurate as it might be, but you soon learn to be careful when pressing. it is not clear how to set it up to go into standby after a defined time, it does seem to after a while anyway.
10/10 with a Mac 5/10 with Microsoft Windows
Connected the printer via wireless to a network to share with a desktop and two laptops.
The Mac found it straight away and works like a dream.
The only way to get it to be discovered and installed on the Windows machines is to install the AWFUL bloated software that "manages" the device. Oh! And provides links to HP sales and products.......
This kept crashing on the Windows XP machines blanking out the wireless connectivity to the network and internet. After a couple of frustrating days of uninstalling and installing I eventually uninstalled the HP monitor and now it seems to work ok.
Again, the software that "manages" the device cannot see it as connected for anything more than a couple of seconds over a wireless connection before it gives you a message saying the device is not connected. The whole idea of being a wireless printer - I thought.
The only way I found to actually manage the printer is to connect to it across the network using a web browser and its network IP address.
So, a brilliant printer!
But, bloated, annoying, over engineered, under tested, unnecessary software...............
Very good
After viewing many reviews of many printers, with rather different conclusions from the reviewers, I decided to go for this HP all in one. I really liked the idea of a wireless printer but was a bit worried that when I finally tried to install and use this facility, there might be problems. In a way the concept of a wireless printer where the printer could be put anywhere in the house with different computers using it seemed too good to be true!
Well, all I can say is that after following carefully HPs installation instructions, I now have a magical wireless printer which does everything I want it to do. The facility to print, automatically, both sides of a sheet of paper whether printing from a document file or from separate single sided originals is another big plus for me that I was uncertain was going to be possible.
The printer is certainly not silent, making plenty of different noises at different times but who cares, it works really well with high quality results and a good touch screen display which, yes, is sometimes inaccurate but it's easy to correct unwanted entries. Ink cartridge changes are a dream.
As long as it continues to work as now, I will be a confirmed HP user.
