Average customer review:Product Description
Professional i-TTL Speedlight compatible with Nikon FX and DX format SLRs, and part of the Nikon Creative Lighting System. This powerful Speedlight offers photographers extensive creative opportunities for their flash photography. Three illumination patterns - Centre-weighted, Even and Standard - provide total control over flash coverage and it covers a class-leading auto zoom range of 17-200mm in just 1.2 seconds. Advanced features include a booster circuit that enables high-speed recycling using four AA-type batteries and a built-in thermal protection system to warn of excessive heat build up. The SB-900 can automatically detect the presence of a fluorescent or incandescent color filter and transmit this information to the attached cameras white balance setting, and its firmware can be upgraded via the camera body.

Customer Reviews
If there is abetter flash unit I would like to know about it.
I have been using Nikon (and Canon) flashes for years and to be frank this model is light years in front of any flash I have used.
Previously you needed to have a degree to go through the flash menus to get the right light, make the unit wireless and remote or use as a master. With the SB-900 its a flick of the switch. Furthermore this flash is so powerful I am using it, with my other Speedlights SB-800 and SB-*0 instead of studio lighting. Works great.
The flash has lots of great features including intuitive gels. ie gels added to the screen which relay to the camera information so the white balance is adjusted automatically. Great idea.
The Speedlight is very easy to use and even if you have never used one before it works great just added to the hotshoe on your camera.
all flashers should should have one
I have only ever had one flash gun before this that was years ago in my roll film days never been a great fan of it so I thought I had better get one for my D3 I cannot stop using it needs some practise but its not that hard the manual is good my self I found the Nikon creative lighting system was useful shop around you can get it for about £319 If any body's worried about the technology forget it I'm only a novice flasher and I found it easy to set up Its getting good results is the thing as we all know that takes practice a very user friendly peace of gear
SB 900 Speedlight
I bought an SB-900 Flashgun from Jessops for £315 and it is absolutley fantastic so if your thinking of getting one from this seller "British bargins" think again there are cheaper alternatives.
