Best party so far
We used the game for our daughter's 15th B'day party. We used a similar one (death by chocolate?) last year. This one was even better. The 6 girls, 1 boy and myself all became fully involved in it from preparing the scene (props etc)and coming in costume, to acting out the parts and discussing with great enthusiasm. I ran the game and found it quite complicated but we managed OK. My husband did all the food and my younger son acted as a waiter.
All the bits were there for the game. We can't use the same game again as we know the solution now but it could be passed on to someone else (they would just need to make some new invitations).
I have no doubt that we will be using one of the other games in the series for another party in the future.
A great laugh but some improvements could be made
6 of us stayed in a cottage this weekend and took this with us to play. None of us had ever played anything like this before and I would recommend it to anyone as we had a really good laugh.
Now there are things that could have made this better.
1) As we all wanted to play, none of us wanted to read anything that might spoil it so the 'host' read the instruction booklet as we went along. It was only when we got to the end of that booklet that we realised it would have been much better to read it all the way through first as it wouldn't spoil anything. This would have made quite a big difference as it explained some things at the end that would have made a difference at the start.
2) Whilst 2 players are "extras", they are referrered to enough in the story to make it slightly disjointed and confusing. You can play it with 6 and it works, but would recommend going for the full 8 if you can.
Overall this is great fun and very clever.
he's a big fish
one of my best buys - played this with my family at xmas and it was very enjoyable and have now been using it with my advanced tefl classes - great fluency practice - ive also bought the book now "fingerman" and its interesting to see the characters come to life
