Manufacturers Description
Eco Kettle

Save water, save time and save energy with the ECO Kettle.

Measuring the required amount of water to be boiled in your kettle has always been a difficult job. It's estimated that, on average, we boil twice the volume of water needed every time. Which means twice as much energy, twice as much time, and with a 3kW kettle this equates to wasting the energy of around 50 light bulbs.

The ECO Kettle has been invented to specifically meet the challenge of reducing the amount of energy wasted by overfilling your kettle.

With the ECO Kettle, you can fill the kettle to the brim and simply press the valve button in the lid to release a specific amount of water (1 to 8 cups worth) into the boiling chamber. This easy, simple method of accurately ensuring that you boil only the water that you need.

Using the ECO Kettle will save electricity, it will save water, it will save you time and it will save you money.

In independent consumer trials, directed by the Energy Saving Trust, the ECO kettle used over 30% less energy than standard kettles.

Eco Kettle
Energy Saving Trust Recommended

The ECO kettle has been awarded the prestigious 'Recommended' mark by the Energy Saving Trust. This is first award to be given in the Energy Saving Trust's newly established Kettle category, and endorses the massive 31% average energy savings achieved by the ECO Kettle in independent trials.

Based upon average usage figures, it is estimated that ECO Kettles sold over the past 2 years have already reduced CO2 emmissions in the UK by a staggering 500 tonnes!

Customer Reviews

So far, so good5
After years of nagging my wife not to boil a whole kettle full of water to make a single cup of coffee, I thought that the Eco-Kettle would be the answer to my problem. And so far, it has been.

It arrived within a couple of days of placing the order through Amazon and the instructions for use are pretty good. Within minutes, the kettle was up and running and I had my first cup of coffee using just the amount of boiling water needed.

The kettle includes an open-valve option which allows you to boil the entire kettle-full of water for those occasions when you need a lot of boiling water. Admittedly, I found the instructions for this function a little confusing at first but it soon became apparent what they meant.

We've not experienced any of the problems that other reviewers here have complained about, particularly the issue concerning the leaky seal, so I assume that the makers have corrected the problem that seemed to affect the earlier models.

All-in-all, we highly recommend this kettle and as well as it being sold at a very reasonable price, it has also saved a few domestic arguments too!

The REAL advantage of the Eco-Kettle...5
One thing that no-one's mentioned so far is that it makes a fantastic cup of tea! With normal kettles you'd often be boiling water that's been boiled before, which really affects the taste, especially after two or three times. With the Eco-Kettle you're effectively using fresh water each time. It's really rather brilliant.

Of course, there's nothing particularly revolutionary about the Eco-Kettle, except that it can boil as little as one cup rather than the usual minimum of 0.5L. The separate chambers simply mean you don't have to fill it up every time you want a cup of tea - it's essentially a device for lazy people. As another reviewer mentions, you can measure how much you boil (to an extent) with a normal kettle. There you measure at the tap, here you measure when boiling. However, this is perfect for a student living in a shared house who wants to make a cup of tea in his bedroom, or indeed anyone who doesn't have their kettle near a tap.

As for the manufacturer's "cup size" being only 200ml, what difference does that make? It's just a guideline. It isn't difficult to work out that if you need a little more than 200ml you fill the boiling chamber a little above the 1 cup mark.

Overall, excellent product.

Eco kettle to get steamed up about2
Loved the idea of having an eco kettle, but was dissapointed after only a few uses.
The handle gets really hot sometimes, this is generally if you try to re-boil the kettle. Sometimes when you try to pour out boling water from the front chamber, cold water from the central chamber pours into your cup too leaving you with luke warm drinks!
Also the knob on the lid that push down and turn is really awkward to do, I find it to difficult to turn so tend not to use it!
This item really need to be modified to make it more user friendly.
