Excellent
This is my first netbook, although I had a HP Pavillion DV6095EA laptop.

First impressions are very good, it is much smaller than the pictures make out to be. Runs pretty fast, although im only using this to take into uni, so only have firefox, office 2007 ultimate, foobar2000, vlc media player & acrobat reader installed.

It seems of very good quality, although it is glossy so get used to fingerprints! The keypad, although not as spaced out as a pc keyboard, is very easy to get used to, only took me a few hours to start writing my assignments with speed and ease. The indiviual keys are pretty big which was a nice surpise.

The battery life is excellent, and the main reason why I bought this model. Ive used it pretty much every day for two weeks with bluetooth and wifi, surfing the net, listening to music and using office, and only had it plugged in 3 or 4 times. Turn the screen brightness down low and with wifi/bluetooth off, it showed just under 11 hours of battery left when listening to music! Also, the battery is removable, unlike the 1008HA (which means you wont have to send it back to Asus and probably pay an extortionate rate to replace the battery).

Connected it to a full 1920 by 1080p screen which was fine (but only when its plugged in). It doesnt allow dual screen though, only mirrored, which i assume is due to windows 7 starter. You also get 500gb of online storage with asus.

The main downfall is actually windows 7, as it is the starter version. You get pretty much nothing, cant even change the wallpaper! I believe that the starter version is tailored for netbooks, but why you cant change the wallpaper is beyond me. Also doesnt like ejecting my usb stick which uses U3 software. Using windows 7 is pretty easy though, easy to get used to, and doesnt take that long to load. Loads quicker than my pc on XP pro and 3Ghz processor.

All in all though, I would definately recommend this netbook. You may want to upgrade the windows 7 version and ram (i havent needed as of yet because i dont use power hungry programs, use the pc for that). In terms of quality, cost, portability, ergonomics, specs and looks, its excellent. The only ways i would improve it are probably make the webcam better (its only 0.3mp) and included a HDMI port like the dells (but their battery life is no where near as good), but it still gets 5 stars.

I absolutely love the item. It is very userfriendly and portable. The 10.5 hour battery life is the absolute truth. I've found it very easy to adapt to the keyboard from a conventional PC keyboard at work and 'conventional' laptop keyboard at home.

the plug and play is very good, i plugged in a mini mouse and a seperate keypad today and the netbook instantly installed the drivers to operate both of these devices.

and as the title says, it is letting my type this review. I do however suggest the purchase of a DVD/CD drive which can be connected by USB cable.
