Product Description

Western society is experiencing an epidemic of type 2 diabetes, almost entirely as a direct consequence of obesity. Until quite recently, type 2 diabetes was known as 'mature-onset diabetes', but recent cases have shown that children as young as ten are now suffering from the disease. Diabetes can cause blindness, restriction of mobility, pain, kidney failure and coronary thrombosis and is a truly devastating disease. This groundbreaking programme of diet and exercise is based on long-term clinical experience and, unlike many other diabetes diet books, has been proven to control, and prevent, diabetes. Succinct and easy-to-understand, "The Diabetes Revolution": outlines the basis of diabetes, the medical effects of the disease and the complications that can arise; describes the medical reasons why a person is overweight; includes typical case studies where lifestyle changes produced dramatic results; offers easy-to-prepare low-GI recipes that have proven success in diabetic management; and outlines specific structured dietary advice with suggested menu plans. "The Diabetes Revolution" is the most comprehensive, practical system yet developed for the control of diabetes and is written by a leading authority on diet and diabetes.

Get control of your diabetes through diet.5
I believe that I have to write this review, because this diet for diabetics is an excellant effort to help them get some more control in their lives and become much healthier as an added advantantage. Indeed, the diet advocated in the book can be used by non-diabetics should they wish to improve their health.
The first reviewer of this book, clearly has been so indoctrinated into traditional ways of eating for diabetics that he/she appears blinkered into believing there are no better diets. The review would have carried more weight had the reviewer tried the diet in the book rather than dismissing it out of hand. The consequence is that he or she will carry on in the same old way and suffer for doing so, whilst more enlightened diabetics will try this way of eating and reap the benefits of doing so.
The fact is that both types will deserve what they get!

I bought this book after a friend recommended it - it is simple to understand and makes sense! There are recipes in the back that are tasty and simple to prepare. A good book to start making changes to your diet without having to follow lots and lots of rules - this book has made a difference to the way I eat and I have seen positive changes.

An excellent book, easy to read with commonsense explanations for the issues raised. Delightful recipes to provide interesting variation to the diet. So popular all the members of my family have now bought their own copy.
