A repertoire for King's Indian players against all of White's attempts to avoid the main lines. It explains how to defuse attacking systems such as the Four Pawns, provides aggressive lines against exchange variations and offers recommended psychology against unambitious opponents.

Very good for KID tournament repertoire
Provides a repertoire for doing exactly what the title says, beating the anti-King's Indian Defence. First section is King's Indian, covering the following lines:
Four Pawns Attack, h3, Averbakh, White Bg5, Exchange Variation, 5 Bd3, 5 Nge2, unusual lines.
Second section deals with White playing without c4:
Trompowsky, Torre Attack, London System, Kingside Fianchetto, Veresov, Barry Attack, Blackmar-Diemer Gambit.
Improvers should keep an eye out for the forthcoming "Starting Out: King's Indian" because Gallagher is an excellent writer, but this book is for the competitive/tournament player or for the experienced player who understands strategic considerations. In BAKI he starts with an introductory text background/explanation and then into the example games. The annotations to these games are quite verbose but intense, and still for the experienced player. Annotations include mention of other reference games, and the Index of Variations at the back can be useful for filtering similar example games from a database. Most competitive players probably already use a database/analysis tool for research but the insights & explanations from Gallagher make this book a useful addition, saving time and stimulating ideas.
