Brief Encounter for today!
Let's Meet on Platform 8 is my first novel. It follows the ups and downs of modern love and the temptation of infidelity and will strike a chord with anyone who has ever fallen for the wrong person. Haven't we all! It features strong, warm characters who I hope readers will empathise with as they struggle to do the right thing. The setting is based on my experiences of commuting when I worked as a secretary in London and serves to illustrate that you don't have to be on a palm-fronded beach to fall in love. Unfortunately, I never did meet anyone quite as gorgeous as Jamie!

Funny yet touching5
I loved this book. I expected it to be a bit of easy reading for bedtime, you know the type, not much substance but a bit of a time-filler to lull me to sleep....how wrong I was! This book is one of the best I have read in a long time, there were no "Boring bits" to skim over (and believe me, I find that many books have these) and I found it gripping as I agonised with the characters over the dilemma's they faced. I truly did not know which character to side with and by the end of the book I was nearer to tears than I have been in a long time (due to a book anyway!) Fantastic, funny and at the same time, rather sad.

A humourous and poignant story of 'real' people5
Let's Meet on Platform 8 materfully combines humour and poignancy - the story is both lighthearted and deep. As a one-time commuter to an area of London close to Euston station the scenes jumped off the page for me and brought back many memories. The plot is sensitively told - a refreshing change from the usual depiction of extra-marital affairs - Teri was no self-centred sordid 'bit on the side' for Jamie. The characters are real people I can easily identify with. The momentum of witty humour was sustained throughout the book. I look forward to reading more of Carole Matthew's work

Non-predictable and 3d characters5
Excellent book, tells the story from all sides and different peoples points of view. Characters are not flat and predictable as they easily could have been in this kind of book/storyline. For once the cheating husband is not simply made out to be a selfish, wanting it all b*stard. Definately recommended.
