CD Description
The product of a religious talent contest, The Cistercian Monks of Stift Heiligenkreuz perform sacred chants and psalmswith a variety of settings from the scriptures. Taking in traditional Gregorian chant in a modern and aesthetically sparing style, these men of the cloth aim to relax and de-stress the listener with their soothing voices. Maintaining a public face of complete religiosity, the monks who appear on 'Chant' refuse any press attention and don't perform in any traditional public arenas apart from their own monastery.

Peaceful
At first I was unsure if Gregorian Chant was my thing. I am used to other music (Lee Ryan is my star). When I listened to the CD the sounds seemed at first strange, but unbelievably peaceful and ... gooseflesh! I find this music very deep and moving. What I did find a bit disruptive were the church bells that we hear twice on the CD. Otherwise the music is FANTASTIC, and I can only recommend it. The CD booklet is there to help understand what is being sung, as everything is in latin. The CD is also priceworthy - afterall it does have 29 tracks. The sound quality is excellent and transports you to another dimension.
Absolutely wonderful
In a world that appears to be full of distraction and noise this cd is a much welcome antidote! Within moments of playing my copy for the first time, I felt at peace and better able to focus on the things that really mattered to me. You don't need to be religious to appreciate this type of music - it just seems to invigorate one's very being, reaching the parts that other sounds fail to reach!!
A piece of heaven
This is the most relaxing music I have ever listened to. It is beautiful. All the stresses of the world disappear as soon as I start playing the cd. The timeless wonder of this music puts everything into perspective. I cant recommend it highly enough.
