I have predominantly been a wet shaver over the years but became increasingly annoyed with the time it took up in the little time I had in between getting out of bed and leaving for work and had also ended up looking like I had gone 12 rounds with Freddy Kruger too many times due to dodgy blades mixed with shoddy workmanship.

I had tried a couple of electric shavers before and not really got on with them but I thought I would give the cruZer4 a chance as when I saw it advertised. It looked cool, it looked easy to use and definitely looked like it should belong to a 25 year old male like myself. I have not looked back since!!

When I first got the cruZer4, I thought I would solely use it for shaving my face when in a bit of a rush. However after just 2 weeks of having it, I had not only used it to shave, but also used it to style my facial hair and trim my body hair, in and out the shower.

This product is so versatile and has a shed load of funky features. It’s a shaver, styler and trimmer all in one.

The Styler is rotating and has two different sizes, a wide shaper and a narrow shaper. The wide shaper evenly cuts and trims large areas and the narrow shaper precisely defines lines and edges. I have found that the wide shaper is perfect for shaping parts of you facial hair and then the narrow shaper is perfect for precisely finishing your style off to make it look like it’s done by a professional. Its really easy to change between each size shaper, all you have to do is push the styler upwards and turn it 180°.

The shaver itself works really well. At first I was worried that it may make my face dry and not give me as close a shave as I would like, however the fact you can use it in the shower means my fears did not come true and the actual shave is very close and smooth.

All the trimming attachments are really easy to use and change and I have had absolutely no problems trimming away to give myself the clean cut look.

All in all I have found this product to be highly useful and would strongly recommend it. If you’re thinking of getting just a trimmer, a shaver, or a styler, you must consider getting all three in this one fantastic product as it gives you so many options and I’m sure, like me, you’ll never look back!! -- David Vince, amazon.co.uk

Nearly there, but some refinement needed.
Having the misfortune of being a cross between Phil Mitchel and Chewbacca I take a personal interest in male grooming items. In the past I have had a number of utensils for different jobs, so when I saw the 4 in 1 I was immediately drawn to the CruZer4.

When the product arrived I was vey impressed by its design and shape. It looks a hell of a lot better than the other items out there and I so I went about reading the instructions and setting it up.

Well the first thing to warn you about is the inital setting on the default Razor for trimming goatees is very short, so rather than trimming my beard I managed to create some kind of reverse mohican much to the ammusement of my wife, but I put that down to my own stupidity.

I then decided to use the CruZer to dry shave and I have to say I was bitterly dissapointed. Unfortunately I have indutrial strength whiskers and this just missed whole sections. Once again I thought this was down to my own stupidity, so I tried it a few times and I got the same result or lack off.

I was very dissapointed and was going to offer just one star, but then thought I would try a wet shave and that made a huge difference. I got a far closer finish and I didn't get whole sections missed out. Howerver if it was just a shaver you were after I would have to say my old Philishave Coolskin still has the edge.

However if you are looking for something to do a number of different jobs then I can't think of anything that matches its versitility. I would say that if you don't have industrial strength whiskers, then you will find you get a decent result, but otherwise I would look at other shavers.

Not in the league of a wet shave
As someone who has tried electric shavers in the past (and never been best impressed) I saw the listed review and wondered whether the technology might have improved over the 15 years or so that have past since I last tried one. Well, quite simply, it doesn't seem to have changed a great deal at all. As someone who has thick stubble, it just doesn't compete with a wet shave. Others have pointed out that it's not as close. Well, on the plus side, I was actually quite surprised just how close it was able to get on the cheeks and around the mouth. However, in the region of the Adam's apple, no amount of repetition seemed to make any noticeable impact on my stubble (and I ended up with a rather bad rash afterwards- far worse than I ever get from shaving with a razor). Being able to use it in the shower may be a bonus for convenience, but it didn't change the lack of impact.

Worst of all though, is not the lack of closeness. It seemed that no number of strokes were able to prevent a few longish strands of stray stubble from remaining. Perhaps I'm just an obsessive compulsive at heart, but personally, I found this extremely annoying. I like my face to feel smooth after a shave, so I got my Mach 3 out straight after.

As for the other functions, I think they're hyping things up somewhat excessively. For one thing, it does not have any means of removing nose hair, which you might have expected from a multi-purpose tool. The "body-hair trimmer" is literally nothing more than the old side-burn attachment that they've been doing for years (plus a plastic guard to go over the top). I would have expected something slightly more advanced!

Those who are happy with electric razors may well find this to be more than satisfactory. However, those who expect to find that their face is actually smooth at the end of a shave are advised to stick to using blades. Maybe this does a quick job on light stubble, but I found it took considerably LONGER than a wet shave and offered vastly inferior results (as well as a great deal more irritation).

Technology may have created a shaver that can be used underwater, but perhaps they should now work on producing one that does a quick, efficient job of removing thick stubble?

Great Body Shaver
This product has been great for keeping my face and body trimmed well. I bought the Cruzer 4 before a holiday I took with some mates where I'd be on a beach last month and I was very happy with how well the product kept me looking shaven and ready for the many ladies that I met.

I used to use a razor and shaving cream to do my manscaping, but this product was so much better at getting every part of my body. It's also easier to use, I have used it in and out of the shower. It also works just as well on my face. It's a very wicked new product!
