Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
This is a surprising disappointment, considering it is the third film from director Danny Boyle, writer John Hodge and actor Ewan McGregor. This disjointed and strained romantic comedy is not even near the same league as Trainspotting and Shallow Grave. Cameron Diaz is a spoiled heiress and McGregor an aimless janitor brought together by two angels (Holly Hunter and Delroy Lindo) hoping to hang onto their wings. McGregor kidnaps Diaz, the boss's daughter, after being fired from his crummy job. She is not all that averse to being snatched. Most of the laughs are lost to a scattershot story that feels preposterous instead of magical. --Rochelle O'Gorman

Synopsis
Petulant, rich honeypie Celine and scruffily adorable janitor Robert find themselves on the road to romance after he kidnaps her to avenge his termination at the hands of her callous father. But what they don't realize is that their love is celestially predetermined, as a pair of gun-toting angels gives chase to force the issue. A quixotic and inconsistent Hollywood debut from the production team of director Boyle, writer John Hodge, and producer Andrew MacDonald ("Shallow Grave" and "Trainspotting").

Refreshingly different4
In the first five minutes of this film, Robert (Ewan McGregor) is fired (from his job as a janitor), dumped and evicted. While confronting his ex-boss, he kidnaps Cameron Diaz, the boss’ spoilt daughter who ironically begins to call the shots. Meanwhile, a couple of angels have been banished from heaven, with their return dependant on making the ill-fated couple fall in love.

A fresh and inventive comedy, featuring some surprisingly competent performances and unexpected twists. An underrated and underwatched film, worthy of attention.

Extremeley Wonderful!5
A Life Less Ordinary is a very enjoyable film. It tells the tale of a fed up young man (Ewan McGregor) who after being fired from his job as a cleaner decides to kidnapp the evil boss's rich daughter (Cameran Diaz). You may think this sounds familar, but the twist is that two angels have been sent down to earth to make sure that the pair get together and fall in love. This is an extremeley funny, sweet tale of two very different people becoming very alike. This is a must for all Ewan fans as he is superb in his role and make sure you look out for the kareoke scene (very funny)!!!

Crazy Lovin'4
If you need a good laugh this is the film for you. Ewan McGregor is nothing short of Hilarious. Combine this, with the argumentative Cameron Diaz, and we have a recipe for laughter.

This is a love story, but with a twist. If you haven't seen it, its worth a shot!
