Wonderful
Small wonder that this book received rapt reviews in the press.Beautiful water colour illustrations combine with a witty story line to make this a real treasure.

At first Tilly is enchanted by the arrival of the huge polar bear in her bedroom.She loves his smokey bear fur and big paws.
But soon he becomes a nuisance,demanding seven pints of milk a day and sitting in front of the television so that nobody else in the family can watch...

Worse, he refuses to use the bathroom, using the whole house as the loo, and Tilly constantly has to run after him with a dustpan and brush.
Later,when Tilly tries to give him a bath- "Pear blossom, bear, you'll smell like an angel!" he displaces so much water that the whole floor is drowned.

Gentle fun for 7 to 8 year olds.Not suitable for younger children, however, who may find the storyline a bit confusing.
