Everything you need to know5
I purchased this book after buying the CD which accompanies the book. I found the CD excellent and the book is a useful addition because it enables you to see the words and how they are spelt - which helps if you don't quite catch the pronounciation. The book has some pictures which aid the learning process and it is clearly printed and easy to read. All in all I think the book and CD are an excellent way to learn everyday Spanish and would be an ideal course for anyone wishing to learn the basics for a holiday.

A good study aid, but...3
Last year I was eager to take up Spanish, and hunted high and low for a suitable book to get me started. I discovered this one lurking on a shelf in a Stirling bookstore, so I decided to give it a try. I was pleased to see that highly useful information regarding the language, such as the usual grammar notes and essential vocabulary dotted throughout the pages, was included and this has helped to propel my Spanish to a higher level than before. However, there just seems to be something missing from this book; there is no use of colour anywhere, which makes using the book quite tedious at times, the vocabulary section at the back is somewhat limited, and the book does not stay open while I take notes from it or complete the exercises it contains. This may sound trivial, but I have found this particularly aggravating during my studies. I am now, unfortunately, seeking another book to further improve my Spanish skills.

it is ok4
when i bought the book i had already studied spanish for 8 months. i am heading to latin america now and this is a good book if you have a basic knowledge in spanish,,, this is not exactly true either!,,, i mean having a basic knowledge in sapnish helps you go through the book much faster.
i really recommend that if you like me want to go to a spanish speaking country and you need simple communication skills withought knowing "why do the say like that" !!!:-)
