Amazon.co.uk Review
Steven Seagal can consider himself lucky if he ever makes a better movie than this one, which was appropriately dubbed "Die Hard on a battleship" when released in 1992. Seagal handles the heroic duties with his usual wooden efficiency, but the movie's greatest assets are a punchy script and the scene-stealing performances of Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey. The two play leaders of a terrorist group who take over the venerable battleship USS Missouri during its final commissioned voyage. They're crazed psychotics who seize control of the ship's nuclear arsenal, but they don't know that Seagal--as the ship's cook, no less--is a former Navy hero, lurking in the shadows and waiting to spoil their nefarious scheme. Director Andrew Davis (The Fugitive) helms the action with skilful style, and as the cheesecake stripper who proves handy with a hand grenade, Playboy Playmate-turned-actress Erika Eleniak gives Seagal another reason to strut his macho stuff. Under Siege is hormonal hokum for gun-happy viewers, but as action movies go, this one's a definite guilty pleasure. --Jeff Shannon

Single handedly destroying an army5
If you like all-action movies you'll love this one. As with most action movies you have to suspend disbelief at least a little but, assuming that's a given, the movie is just great.

Seagal plays Casey Ryback - a cook (yup, that's right, a cook) who, by the way, is also a trained Navy SEAL trained in unarmed combat, explosives, weapons usage, tactical weapons etc etc etc. Due to some incident in his past he's working as a cook on board a US warship.

Then the bad guys arrive and hijack the ship. A curious plot, but there you go. Naturally they take out all officers ranking higher than the traitor who lets them in but conveniently don't know that Ryback has skills beyond pie-making.

So begins the carnage, as this now somewhat annoyed Navy SEAL decides to take back the ship. With a little help from Miss July 1989 and a few crew members he finds locked in a room somewhere he not only kills the entire army of bad guys but also manages to take out the Korean submarine that wanted to buy the nuclear missiles on board the ship.

If you don't like action movies, or you like to gripe about people who can still climb almost sheer surfaces despite having their arms torn by a grappling hook then don't bother with this one. If you like a bit of all-action quasi-comedy with disbelief well and truly suspended then just go and buy it.

Bloomin' Awesome!5
The first time I saw Under Siege, I was ill and had to be taken to hospital half way through but thanks to Amazon (UK) and their realistic pices, it was possible for me to see it again, with only a two-day wait! Steven Seagal is by far my favourite martial-artist actor and Under Siege is my favourite movie. If you like this martial-arts extravaganza, then Under Siege should be a must-have in your video collection! Also, see Under Siege 2. --Lee Rollason

A masterpiece of explosive martial arts action5
Some people beleive Steven Seagal can't act...they obviously haven't seen Under Siege. From the beautifully crafted opening scenes to the passionate and tear-jerking ending, Under Siege shatters all expectations. It would be a blatant lie to say I was not stunned by the intricate and twisting plot. Tommy Lee Jones delivers the performance of his career as the insane and brooding arch-villian, and Steven Seagal delivers a stunning performance playing both a passionate lover and chef together with an all out martial arts hero, reminisant of performances in films such as Nico and The Patriot. Don't waste your life watching todays crummy action films, which are only a shadow of Under Seige, and buy this epic tour de force today.
