Excellent walking guides5
These guides are brilliant. The walks are arranged with the shortest at the beginning of the book and the longest at the end, so if you haven't done much walking you can ease yourself in gently.

Each walk is detailed over about five pages. There is a Ordnance Survey map showing the complete walk, though they are not large and I would therefore advise you to take a 1:25000 map of the area and a compass that you know how to use. There is a general description of the walk with points corresponding to the map and advice on where to park the car or catch a bus.

I would consider the Pathfinder series to be the best available, as the descriptions of the walks compared to my experiences of these walks mean that the authors must have actually done them.

Serendipity4
I would recommend the Pathfinder Guides to casual walkers. Walks are well chosen and often give a different perspective to those undertaken tens of times in the same location. Great for walking days out, whether a couple of hours or longer.

Thoughtfully designed guide to save time while on the move!5
I am impressed. This is a well designed and well produced guide. I like the fact that it is waterproof, and has a handy size. It is easy to slip it into a pocket. Index is well designed, making it easy to look up and select a walk to suite you, and the one appropriate for the weather conditions on a given day. Instructions are clear and concise. Waypoints are easy to follow, and to check your progress. Good use of colours is made on the maps and within the text in order to be able to make quick references while on the move. All in all, it is a useful guide. I am going to try it with a walkers' GPS device, as soon as I have purchased one, and find out this guide's full strength.
