"He comes to move the stones you can't budge"
Max Lucado's books are always a treat. Simple, direct, funny, moving and powerful. He Still Moves Stones is no exception. He paints a gallery of portraits of "bruised reeds and smoldering wicks" from many short stories of characters taken from the Bible. "An exhibition of second chances" walking you through such questions as when you wonder if your prayers matter, when you are afraid of the future, when you are confused by God's actions, overcoming shame and dealing with difficult relatives. As always a great variety of examples to illustrate the love of God, in at least one of which you will find yourself saying "yes, that is exactly how life looks from where I'm standing." "A real God meeting real pain so we could answer the question where is God when I hurt?"
Max Lucado's writings are hope for hopeless people, hope for people who think there is no way of moving the obstacle in their way. A picture with the finger pointing firmly towards the compassion of Jesus who "comes to do what you can't. He comes to move the stones you can't budge." It is so refreshing to read stories of people who make mistakes and yet God loves and can make a difference to. If you think you are too broken to be fixed and your stones too big to move, read this book. It is honest, simple and life-changing.
Excellent!
This is an excellent book which attempts to answer the question "Where is God when I hurt?" Max takes the stories of several New Testament characters such as the woman caught in adultery, the cripple at the pool, and the women who touched Jesus hem and invites the reader to relive the stories with him. He reminds us that the God who spoke still speaks, the God who forgave still forgives, the God who came, still comes. He comes into our lives to do what we can't do, he comes to move the stones we can't budge. He Still Moves Stones.
Mighty Moving Mr. Lucado
I wish that I could give this book ten stars which is righly what it deserves and more. I have not read all of Mr. Lucado's books as yet, but this has to be one of his best. Max Lucado paints the early life of Christ on earth in the gospels in his gallery of stories when our Saviour walked this earth in the flesh. I felt God's love and presence so deeply as he performed his daily miracles, heal the sick turn water into wine, speak about grace, forgiveness, disappointments and even prayer. I just could not help compare the biblical times to our present day situations, and I found myself doing this in all of the stories. I can say without a doubt that the Holy Spirit has guided the author's hand throughout this book as I felt the power of God so stronly as I read. This book challenges one to look at your life and examine it and see the way God has moved in your past as a non-Christian until the present as a Christian. He still moves stones every minute in our every day lives, and that's one reason we must exalt and praise His Holy Name. Readers please buy this book and be inspired as I was. Max Lucado..........thank you, thank you thank you.
