Average customer review:
A unique insight into the ultimate Japanese supercar, the Skyline GT-R.

Product Description

The Nissan Skyline GT-R is the icon amongst Japanese performance cars, its almost mythical status accentuated both by its domination of numerous motorsport divisions and by its ultimate tuneability, which has led to GT-Rs with well over 1000bhp. Only officially sold in strictly limited numbers outside Japan, the large numbers of 'grey' imports into the UK, Australia and the USA have ensured that the legend has spread and the GT-R has a huge aspirational following world-wide. Although the GT-R has towering power and performance, the sophisticated chassis and cutting-edge technology mean that it can be driven safely and swiftly by almost anyone. A unique insight into the ultimate Japanese supercar.

Customer Reviews

Not meaty enough..2
If you read the other reviewer's ('Mad Matt') first paragraph, about not knowing much about the Skyline except its streetfighter 'reputation' and liking films such as Fast&Furious and so on, and if you think you're pretty similar, then as he says, this will probably be a good book for you.
Personally, it wasn't for me. I'm no great expert, but I do know a bit about Skylines, and this book did seem quite superficial - and certainly too in awe of the GT-R's 'reputation'. There are some good bits for sure, but if you already feel you know a little about the R32/33/34, then I'm not convinced you'll learn much more here.

Decent information 4
Before reading this book the only thing I knew about the Nissan Skyline was it's a fast Japanese imported car that is capable of very high speeds. And only become interested in the car after watching one of the films in the fast and furious series, where the Skyline was basically the star of the show, since then I watched countless clips on you tube mainly crazy Japanese dudes, hurtling around race tracks, displays just what an awesome machine this Skyline GTR really is.

After reading this book I gained a vastly more appreciated knowledge of just what makes this car so amazing

This book gives only a short history of the Skyline, Which is a good thing because who wants a history of the Nissan Skyline anyway

The GTR is were it's at, and that's what this book focuses on, the Nissan Skyline GTR the author of this book explains what an absolutely totally and utterly amazing car the Nissan Skyline is, and explains what an amazing car the Skyline is to own and drive ,

It explains all the triumphs and tribulations that Nissan underwent to turn this car from something ordinary to something extraordinary,

Tells you why the Skyline GTR has such absolute amazing cornering ability, (due to the fact 4WD is activated, so that certain percentage of the drive can be rationed to the front wheels, to make sure the car maintains best transaction, quicker that human reactions could do, to make sure under steer or over steer that was developing is eliminated. And just as quick reverts back to 100 % rear wheel drive)

And takes you through every other aspect on Nissan Skyline's components from the brakes, (The GTR can be fitted with simply huge brakes Calipers,) steering, tires, engine, body design, seats, dash display, dampers, turbo charger, stiffeners.'

There is also a very interesting Chapter on how to tune and modify the car, including Cylinder head modification, boring, adding a better more effective turbo charger to reduce turbo lag, recommends what exhaust system to fit, to increase performance the most, and tells you how you can tune the Nissan Skyline GTR from whatever it is they are limited to, before they are shipped over from Japan to something more like 1000bhp

But more importantly if you actually have one of these cars (If I had the money I would buy my own fleet) it tells you the best modifications if you only have a strict budget to adhere to.

There are also some detailed quality photographs essential for any automotive book,

After reading this book your mechanical abilities will not of increased, you will not really know any more about how to take the car apart or put it together, but will have a much greater insight into the Nissan Skyline GTR and in particular that this car is not just a large Nissan estate, but a million times more. Whatever your thoughts about the look of this car, you will understand what's beneath its skin is truly beautiful, and that's what really matters,

There is also an interesting insight at the end of this book on possibilities for a all new 2007 Skyline.

After reading this book the idea that a large Nissan Skyline could outpace a Porsche 911 or boxster may seem ridiculous, after reading you'll understand
