In a nutshell:
If you’ve ever played a Tony Hawk game, your expectations of American Wasteland will have been well and accurately managed: you’re a skater, you skate and perform tricks that in real life would re-define the laws of physics.

This outing sees a number of cool new additions, including the ability to switch to BMXs for the entire game, an expansive (and load time-free) Los Angeles cityscape, more tricks and moves than ever before and improved “Freak Out” abilities that see your rider destroying their board post-wipeout in a series of increasingly comical exercises in deck destruction.

Finally, the inclusion of in-game shops throw up a raft of customisation options from tattoos to clothing, and the soundtrack features a slew of decent tracks, including a remix from none other than Tony Hawk himself.

The lowdown:
Although you can now also ride a bike, the familiar and understandably unchanged control system is as tight and responsive as ever and with the additional freedom to roam, enormous combinations of tricks are slightly easier to achieve than before. Graphically this is very much business as usual, although the Xbox 360 remix naturally looks by far the sexiest.

Most exciting moment:
Finding rails, cables, benches and vehicles to grind the hell out of has never been easier or more satisfying, and combined with the new handstand tricks can produce some memorable combos.

Since you ask:
As well as original music by artists from Chemical Brothers to Sham 69, American Wasteland will also feature an unreleased Tony Hawk remix of Bloc Party’s “Like Eating Glass”.

The bottom line:
It’s Tony Hawk pumped up and ready for action.

    MMMMMMMM5
i am surprised with all the negatave reviews because i love it but i must admit is is not as good as underground cos that was kick ass!!!

    Fun, but the physics?3
Don't get me wrong, this is a fun game, but there are three main problems.

The first is the story. It's very poorly written and frankly it's a waste of time and you shouldn't do it. Oh, wait, you're forced to do it so you can unlock the other levels.:(

The second problem is the glitches. Sometimes you'll crash for no reason, other times you'll find yourself continuously bouncing against a couple of walls trying to escape. You can tell this game was rushed out.

The third, and for me, the worst problem is the physics. How unrealistic can you get? I bought this game thinking I could feel like I'm skating in real life. But even though doing, say, a kickflip to boardslide would take weeks of practice in real life, within a few minutes in the game I'm doing a 360 flip, a 56 second crooked grind, a triple backflip, a 107 second nose manual, all in the one combo. You also do other unrealistic and stupid tasks like, 'do a lip trick here for three seconds and the bridge will break apart' (no, really, that is actually one of the tasks in story mode).

Believe me, if you want to bust some sick but unrealistic combos then go ahead, buy this game. But if you're like me and you want to feel like you're skateboarding REALISTICLY then I would seriously consider getting an Xbox 360 and EA Skate. I know I will.

    I'm watching this game like a Hawk!5
    Street skateboarding!
You skate all through America in places like L.A,Hollywood,Beverly Hills and Downtown.Great game!
Find a wide arrangement of tricks:Pressure Flips,Nollie,Switch Stance,Wallrides,Wallpush,Spine Transfers,Skitching,Flatland Tricks,Grind and the famous Natas Spine. However this may seem stupid, but after playing this for a while,i feel kinda homesick!

    Get It!
