Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
In a nutshell:
The official game of the 2006 World Cup has all the stadiums, players and kits of the real thing, but the biggest surprise is that it actually improves upon the usual FIFA gameplay too. So if England does not win in real life, you can at least make sure they do in the virtual world.

The lowdown:
. In previous years, FIFA Word Cup games have meant little more than a cut down version of the existing FIFA game, however this version features not just the 32 teams from the finals but the chance to play as any of the other 95 countries from the qualifying rounds. There’s even the option to replay historic World Cups – although only a handful of older players are included. In terms of gameplay things have been noticeably speeded up and there’s even an alternative control system that exactly mimics rival Pro Evolution Soccer. PES fans will still be suspicious but this really is the best FIFA yet.

Most exciting moment:
Reliving the glory of 1966 with the current England team and then going on to do the same thing in this year’s Cup as well!

Since you ask:
Many of the England team, including Wayne Rooney, claim to be video games fans and many have mentioned playing the FIFA games between real matches.

The bottom line:
A genuine improvement on FIFA 06 with the usual top notch EA presentation.

Fifa Comes of Age5
Quick review :BUY THIS GAME !!!

Fifa has finally come of age and now we can all taste the ripe fruits of their hard work. This is an excellent game. The presentation is superb as always, plenty of extra like the challange mode where you reply old World Cup scenarios. Their are plenty of extras to unlock too, but what makes this game different is the gameplay. It plays better than any Pro Evolution Soccer - believe it or not. In fact I am writing this review in June 2008, and having played Fifa 98 to Fifa 2008, this is without doubt the best gameplay in any Fifa game, other Fifa games since this one are actually a step backwards gameplay wise. I have played the game in Semi Pro mode and even though I am quite a decent player I have found this quite difficult. Playing as Scotland I have normally won games by no more than a 2-0 scoreline, and often draw 0-0 or lose late in the match 1-0. So if you want an easier game you might need to try using amateur level.

Hope you enjoy the game as much as I have, at this price you can't go wrong !

feels good to change history4
I Personally Think the game is really good,I RATE IT 4 OUT OF 5 FOR A SIMPLE REASON ITS NOT QUITE THERE YET,I ADMIT IT FEELS GOOD TO CHANGE HISTORY LIKE IN THIS GAME,CHANGE WHO WON THE WORLD CUP BUT ITS FAR TOO EASY,THE ONLY FANTASTIC TIME IS WHEN ME AND MY GIRL ZOHY JONES PLAY MULTIPLAYER

A well balanced football game4
Its style is a bit different to most football games which makes a good change. It's much easier to defend for those players who struggle to make tackles. Yet although it's more difficult to score from close range as some of the other reviews state shooting from the edge of the box is almost a guarantee 75% of the time. The only down side to this is that scoring spectacular goals is not all that possible and you have very little control over where YOU want the ball to goal. Free kicks, crosses and corners are useless, can never get a head on the ball from the corner or cross plus no control on the ball for free kicks pointless.

Overall an enjoyable game having the option to play the friendly games and qualifiers is an added bonus along side an in game goal updates within your grouping is cool. A recommended buy even though it maybe a bit short and sweet but not much else you can do with a world cup game lol..
