Amazon.co.uk Review
In a nutshell:
The world’s most popular football sim returns with numerous tweaks and additions to make it even more realistic in both gameplay and graphics. If England don’t win the World Cup you can always take solace in the latest Pro Evo.
The lowdown:
This latest sequel sees one of the biggest overhauls in the game’s history with the new improvements to the already impressive animation directly affecting the way you play. Dribbling with the ball is now easier but the quality of your passing and shooting now depends on the position of a player’s body in terms of both accuracy and power. Make a shot straight after a sharp turn, for example, and your chances of hitting the target are slim. Opponent and team artificial intelligence has also been greatly increased, to the point where every man on the pitch is thinking independently. Apart from the animation, the graphics in general have also been upgraded with much better player likenesses.
Most exciting moment:
Thanks to the new changes Pro Evo 6 plays a much more attacking game than previously, with counter attacks after a fluffed shot on goal made much easier than previously.
Since you ask:
Although the game doesn’t have the official FIFA World Cup license it does simulate an unofficial international tournament, including both qualifying rounds and the finals.
The bottom line:
The best just keeps getting better with the most beautiful virtual game ever.

Manufacturer's Description
The Pro Evolution Soccer series is renowned for its realism, and Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is abundant with new gameplay additions. Player AI has been massively upgraded, with players running intelligently into space when not in possession of the ball and pointing where they want the pass placed to continue the attack. Similarly, the physical side of play has been refined, with players working to turn a defender as they receive the ball, while defenders must learn to stand off slightly to prevent such moves.
Series creator Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka has also worked to refine the shooting system of the new game, and players will be able to attempt more snap shots than in previous versions, while volleys and half-volleys have been redesigned. Other new moves include the ability to retain control of the ball when sliding in to tackle, while all-new feints and backwards dribbling are now available thanks to the improved dribbling controls, while headers have been changed to allow players more movement in the way their strikers jump and head the ball.
Pro Evolution Soccer 6 also has a number of new teams licensed for inclusion, with the International roster now featuring the official kits for Argentina, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Sweden. Details on official club teams and more national squads will follow.
Other new additions include more balanced referees, and a selection of exciting new gameplay modes. An International Challenge involves leading your home country to victory through a series of entry and tournament rounds, while a Random mode lets the player play quick games within randomly-generated match day settings. The much-loved Master League also returns, allowing players to experience the many highs and lows of steering a team through years of competitive games. Aging players, injuries and pressure from the board all combine to create a truly immersive game where results are everything.
With its slick moves and realistic action, Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is certain to glide past rival titles with ease and enjoys an impressive roster of new moves, licensed clubs, and gameplay modes.

what more could you ask for?
For many years now, the Winning Eleven / Pro Evolution Soccer franchise has been synonymous with quality, realistic gameplay. But does the latest installment of the franchise live up to its predecessors? The answer is that not only does Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 live up to the former games in the series, it surpasses them with even more incredible realism and absolutely gorgeous visuals.
Gameplay - 10: What has set the Winning Eleven series apart from all other soccer sims in the past is its gameplay. Once again, the gameplay of this installment of the series is excellent. All of the modes that we've come to know and love are back. The Master League (franchise mode for those who are unfamiliar with the series) is back in full force with an easier to navigate locker room menu. Now, changing your formation and rearranging players takes less time and less sorting through menus. In addition to the Master League, an international tournament mode is available as well as regular exhibition matches. But the features in the game are only a small part of the beautiful gameplay this game has to offer. In terms of actual gameplay, several changes have been made to better simulate a real game. For instances, rather than players making runs into a space occupied by defenders, they make runs into open space. Also, it's no longer possible to simply make a pass from one end of the pitch to the other from an impossible angle. In order for a strong pass to be made, your player must be balanced and have space to make a pass adding even more to the realism that this game prides itself on. It's also easier to clear the ball with a header while defending and on the whole, headers are much easier to get in position on. Overall, the changes that have been made to the gameplay are brilliant in terms of how they add even more realism to the game than there was previously.
Graphics - 10: I have to admit, this was one area of the game that utterly shocked me. In Winning Eleven 9, the graphics were solid, but weren't spectacular. However, the upgrade to the graphics in this game was wonderful. While Winning Eleven 9 provided solid visuals that were, at best, ok to look at, the visuals provided in Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 are a joy to behold. This was a fabulous upgrade to the series.
Sound - 10: The sounds are solid. The crowd reacts as you would expect it to. Good play from the teams on the pitch is well received by the crowd while poor play is scorned. The music in the game is just what you would expect from the series as well.
Features - 10: Why a separate section for this you ask? Well, while many of the features in the game were covered in the gameplay section, some of the other features haven't been discussed yet. One of the biggest, nicest features I have yet to mention as of yet is the fact that Manchester United and Arsenal are fully licensed. Also, many new designs for boots and balls, including the ball used in the World Cup, are available to be used. There are also some new features in the WE shop including the ability to buy costumes for teams. Very nice add-ons to the game.
Buy or Rent?: If you're a soccer fan, then there is absolutely no question that you must by this game. This, once again, blows FIFA out of the water. There is no better soccer sim on the market and no better way to play as the best players in the world in the comfort of your own home. Even if you aren't a soccer fan, rent this game and see how you like it. You may be pleasantly surprised how great a game it truly is.
