A few bugs in the works
Micro Machines V4 seems to take a step back from before.
There's no 8 player mode any more and bugs have crept in that sometimes mean you'll lose races through no fault of your own. On the flip side sometimes the AI is just bizarre and slows to a halt for no reason whatsoever therefore gifting you points. Therefore the single player mode led me from sheer frustration on some levels to a few "what was that all about?" moments on other levels. The single player mode doesn't seem to have a learning curve either, its just pot luck sometimes if you win or lose and that's not good.
However get a few friends round and once again Micro Machines is back on form. There is nothing like having races round some fantastically madcap tracks (ranking many as some of the most inventive in the series to date) and trying to get a whole screen ahead of your friends. In that respect the game never pales and is always great fun - but just don't expect too much from the single player mode.
Inventive but not with its flaws.
Micro Machines V4
Machines that are micro.. just like my attention span..
Ive been looking forward to playing this game since i first
played it on the PS1 which was at least 8 years ago..
Its better in respect of the graphics and the overall lay out.
The racing is great fun and like before when racing you can
collect weapons, there are loads of obstacles that are in
the way, and not forgetting a huge selection of cars to collect..
I found the cars a lot harder to control which was annoying
as i didn't progress for about 2 days, this was just on easy
mode..!!
I liked the track editor, although i was disappointed when i
couldn't add them to the main game. But, its still good fun..
Overall, i enjoyed playing it even though at one point i got so
frustrated i launched the pad at the TV..!!
Definitely worth a go..
Just a fun game
I was put of buying this game due to the low ratings but I decided to buy it anyway despite what magazines say and let me tell you this is a really fun game OK the one player could be a little better but micro machines is all about the multiplayer which is brilliant they are loads of levels and cars to unlock and the best thing is you can unlock them all in multiplayer for example if you win a race you'll get a car and some points which go towards unlocking levels trust me I started playing micro machines when the sega megadrive first came out I was five and this is close to the classics as you'll get so if you want to have some addictive fun with your mates then this game is for you.
