Manufacturer's Description
What starts in the city is settled in the canyons as Need for Speed Carbon immerses you in the world's most dangerous and adrenaline-filled form of street racing. You and your crew must race in an all-out war for the city, risking everything to take over your rivals' neighbourhoods one block at a time. As the police turn up the heat, the battle ultimately shifts to Carbon Canyon, where territories and reputations can be lost on every perilous curve. Represent your car class, your crew, and your turf in Need for Speed Carbon, the next revolution in racing games.
Key Features:
All-new Canyon Duel and Drift race modes are the ultimate test of skill and nerve, where one wrong turn could cost you more than the race.
Race for control of the city block-by-block by taking down rival crews on their turf, then defeat their crew leaders in life-or-death races in Carbon Canyon.
The revolutionary new Autosculpt car customisation tool gives you the power to design and tweak your crew's cars in every way imaginable.
Affiliate with the Tuner, American Muscle, or Exotic car classes and prove once and for all who makes the best set of wheels. A new physics model makes each class handle and drive differently.
Strategically choose your crew members and then use their skills on the road and in the garage to help you win races and customise your cars.

Return To Form
NFS comes in for a bit of stick at times. Usually for being repetative. Why buy them otherwise? The last few titles have lacked somewhat but this is a bit of an improvement and a return to form.
First up, back to driving at night. Carbon City is a hilly, neon lit metropolis. A bit like driving around Scarborough in the dark. The object of the game is to claim terratories. The map is split into zones. As you win races in each, your team (which you create) controls the zone. The object is to control the map.
Graphically the games a bit ropey as is the sound. There is noticable screen tearing, jerkyness and pop up at times. Slowdown is evident when things get heavy on screen. The cars handle like Titanic trying to avoid an iceberg. However, the game is fun to play and you have to live with the imperfections.
The wingman is a new addition. At first it seems a dud but once you learn how to use it, it comes in handy. The police chases are still there but less frequent. The only problem is when they trigger, they can take 10 - 15 mins of mindless driving to aviod a disproportionate number of police cars which appear on every corner. Also, every so often your terratory will get invaded and you have to defend it in a race. Irritating but fun.
The learning curve is pretty shallow so the game is easy to get into with races setting the difficulty level. Beware, drift races are very hard but fortunately you don't need to win every race to make your mark.
Overall the game is actually good, easy fun with plenty of races available at one time to take part in. It is a bit short though and accomplished racers won't get months of racing out of this.
Gripes? Well I only used one car throughout which I upgraded occassionally. You need to unlock cars before you can buy them and then unlock the upgrades before you can buy these. Also, the races get samey after a while as the landscape looks the same throughout. You get to the point where you question whether you've raced here before.
Not the best racer on the shelves but not the worst and well worth a try. I'd recommend getting the PS3 or 360 version if you have the choice as the graphics are bound to be better.
Good
Not an easy game, which is good. Cars do like kind of fake, basically look like toys.
Rule the streets!
The ultimate sequel to NFS Most Wanted. Altough the cop chases aren't really as good, the graphics are better and you get more choice, (more cars to buy). The canyon is a great idea, but not to sure about having to always drive at night. But, if you played NFS Most Wanted and loved or even liked it, you have to buy this, because, as i said before, the ultimate sequel!
