Al Capone meets GTA III Liberty City5
This game is superb. OK, not quite in the same league as the GTA series, but it is damn close. I am a massive fan of the GTA series of games, I love all of them, so when hearing about "Mafia" being basically a 1930's version of the game, I thought "why not, I'll give it a go". And I am glad. My only gripe was the lack of ammo at the start of each mission, and you have to hand your guns back after each mission (and there is nowhere to buy guns from), but I guess that adds to the challenge of the game.

The reason why i said this game is like "Al Capone meets GTA III Liberty City", is because of the Italian-American accents in the game.

The graphics are superb, and the driving physics are excellent. the background music too when driving is pretty sweet (no radios though), a bit like the Kevin Costner film "The Untouchables" at times.

Recommended - Oh yes!!!!!

All-time classic5
For me, this is one of the greatest computer games made and still stands the test of time today.
It can be a bit slow to start off with but you soon become immersed in the City of Lost Heaven and get to know your way around the map.
It is a linear storyline rather than free-roaming like GTA. However, it works a treat and the storyline is second to none when it comes to gaming. You really get to know and feel for the characters.
Some fantastic background music to fit the 1930s, good cars and weapons and good locations. The shoot-em ups are generally very good as are the cut-scenes.
Pretty tough game but well worth sticking with, probably worth printing a walkthrough to put by your side for certain missions, (the race track one in particular). Buy and enjoy!

Impossible to beat5
I had this game and literaly spent 12 hours on week days and 15+ hours on weekends. The graphics are amazing the length is so long I didn't even finish and I can be very, very, very, very, quick at completing games. The cars are so realistic that if you felt like taking a random drive you could go on Mafia start the car (if it will work) and take a drive stopping at traffic lights and not going over the speed limit as to avoid being arrested or fined. OR YOU COULD GO CRAZY AND GO OVER THE SPEED LIMIT, SHOOT CARS WHILST DRIVING AND END UP WITH EVERY COP IN THE CITY AFTER YOU!!!!

The missions are not impossible or too easy but are long and more on the difficult side, I guess. It will take the time of the tuotorial to get used to the controls (if you pay attention).

I forgot to mention, the reason why I am writing about it in the past tense is because I recently have had to switch to a Windows Vista which is the worst thing to happen after playing the best game in the world for so long. That's why your prime objective sould be to get all computer virus' destroyed. Then, by this point, you might get it on PS2 if you have one.

Overall, this game is so good that if you don't already have it, you need to move into the near-by lunatic asylem.
