From the Publisher
After the extraordinary success of Your Life in Your Hands, the bestselling and groundbreaking guide to understanding and overcoming breast cancer, Professor Jane Plant has produced this revolutionary new book on osteoporosis. Professor Plant is one of Britain’s most respected scientists and, along with her friend and fellow scientist Gill Tidey, has carried out an extensive study into the ways in which nutrition can be used to help conquer disease. This thoroughly researched and easy-to-follow guide contains many healthy and nutritious recipes to help those facing this debilitating condition.
Customer Reviews
Healthy bones
I found this book very helpful, and quite inspiring. The author is highly qualified to write about this topic, and does so in an unpatronising way. At first glance, the book is serious and factual in its approach, so I found it a bit daunting - there are some difficult-looking graphs and tables. But if you persevere a bit, the text is very easy to follow - and the message about how to look after the health of your bones rings clear. The author makes a good case for not necessarily following everything told you by conventional doctors, but reminds you to listen to what they say, and draw your own conclusions about how to maintain bone health.
Putting your mind at rest
I sent off for this book because members of my family suffer from Osteoporosis and I had seen it previously in the Library. I am lactose intolerant and avoid dairy produce. I found it helpful as it has surprising conclusions about dairy produce. I've stopped worrying about not having milk as I have a varied diet otherwise. For those who aren't sure what to eat there is a helpful section of recipes and so on. The only reason I'm only giving it 4 stars is it has too much to absorb and I haven't finished reading it. Maybe an edited version would be a good idea.
Prostrate Cancer - Jane Plant
Anything by Jane Plant has to be taken seriously by anyone concerned or in an actual cancer health situation. Her way of writing is clear, it gives sensible advice whether undergoing radium or chemo treatments, before and after. She is a survivor herself and her take on Dairy product's part in the increasing incidences of cancer just should not be ingnored. Highly recommend
