Overpriced Tat
We got this kettle and toaster set as a wedding present and after five months both the kettle and toaster (but not the marriage ... yet) are on their last legs.

As the other reviews here point out, the kettle leaks badly when hot and has a tendency to spray steam from the area around the lid below the handle, I have scalded myself on several occassions. The level on the side is totally unreliable which can lead to the kettle being boiled dry. Also, I assume due to the leaky switch, the kettle does have a tendency to switch itself off just after you walk away from it.

The toaster is equally poor, the settings are like toaster roulette as you never know quite what you're going to get. The cancel button works from time to time but I have frequently had to pull the plug to get the toaster to stop burning my toast. Pressing the bagel button is toast suicide.

This set is overpriced rubbish.

Disappointing
Didn't toast evenly. Has broken down only after 16 months - 4 months after the expiry date of the guarantee. Considering the price, it should have lasted a bit longer, surely?

I was naive enough to be sucked in by the retro styling - 3 months in and it's great if you like your toast burnt to a cinder on one side and uncooked on the other. Mysteriously the middle filaments have ceased to work. Although, on the plus side, saves getting the step ladders out to check the smoke alarm still works.
