Product Description

One of the all-time-great rugby league full backs, Kris Radlinski tells his story in intriguing detail from growing up as a rugby mad kid in Wigan, signing for his home town club and making star appearances for Great Britain. Kris describes what it was like to make his debut as a raw 17 year old amongst some of the greatest players in the game - Shaun Edwards, Jason Robinson, Gary Connolly, Martin Offiah, Phil Clarke and Joe Lydon - only to soon become one of the biggest stars himself. He tells of how it felt to be the youngest recipient of the Harry Sunderland Trophy aged just 19 and how he became a double award winner with the Lance Todd Trophy in 2002. Kris details how injury forced his retirement from the game in March 2006 only to make a comeback in June of that year to help Wigan Warriors fight off the threat of relegation. He also gives the low-down on how he nearly signed for rivals St Helens, describes his relationships - some good, some bad - with the Wigan and Great Britain players and coaches and relates how rugby union tried to tempt him with a huge money offer in 'Simply Rad: The Kris Radlinski Story'.

Simply brilliant!5
Kris Radlinski has written a candid and honest autobiography which is a fantastic read. Many sportmens tend to give a sanitised version of their career and you get the feeling they are missing out some of the best, and more controversial, bits. But Radlinski pulls no punches and reveals what he really thought about the other characters he played with. He was undoubtedly one of the best players of his generation and gives an insight into what it was like to compete at the highest level which will appeal to more than just rugby fans.

Inspirational5
A remarkable insight into the life of a rugby league superstar and an extremely respected figure but also a geniune nice guy!

This book is inspirational and would suit anyone who reads it not just Wigan fans. It gives descriptions of Kris's career but also into his life and the ups and downs sport brings. The truth is told over many changes at the club over the years and the great players that Kris has played with and against. It is not all rugby league though he talks about his roots, his future and his extremely supportive family.

I'm sure that every rugby league fan who has seen Kris play over the years will love this book and any young rugby league players aiming for the top should read.

This is one book that is genuinely written from the heart and is a credit to Kris! I would recommend this book to anyone as I could not put it down once I started.

Simply Rad: The Kris Radlinski Story

As a long time follower of rugby league, and an admirer of the player I was hoping that this book delivered more than just the normal anecdotes seen so common in autobiographies these days. Thankfully it did.

The book reads more like a story, showing the ups and downs of sport, as well as stirring up memories of the great Wigan team of the 90's. The book is not without its `typical' rugby player stories, all of which had me in stitches.

The player has been very honest with his story and can add another achievement to his CV. The book is a compelling read and one which I would recommend people buy, whoever they support.
