Customer Reviews
This seems to be the one book to buy!
Great book. I wanted a thorough guide to Ableton and I got it. It's a thick book, but well written and a great read. I'm halfway through already and have picked up a lot of new things. Being a good student isn't always easy and this book contains a lot of things. But like I said, somehow it seems so well written that I can read it with a highlight marker in the sofa at night (when the kids are asleep) - and having fun doing that!!
I sincerely wish I had read Scott MJ's review here before I ordered the "Ableton Live 7 Tips and Tricks" by Martin Delaney. That book disappointed me a lot (I rated it two stars on Amazon.com). Where that book to me read like the shallow software description of a sales person, this book IMHO truly delivers.
I also recommend taking the time to surf the Ableton website where there are lots of great tutorials. Especially all the videos give you a great idea of the workflow possible with Live. Still, all that great info for free doesn't make this book unnecessary. To me it's a great compliment.
The book also comes with example files that you can download from a website. I haven't had the time to dig into them just yet, but I have great confidence that it will be a fun and rewarding experience.
Paperback, but it seems to be good quality and will probably hold together well. I'm sure I'll forget the majority of great tips within so I'll probably keep going back to it a lot.
Highly recommended book. (...and what an inspiring piece of software!!!)
A complete and profesional guide to Ableton Live 7
The Ableton Live Power series of reference guides are quite simply the best money you will ever spend when learning and using Ableton Live. The book gives useful practical tips for workflow, and use of all the instruments and effects within Ableton Live. The explanations for the effects in particular are fantastic, and go beyond the limited explanations found in the Ableton Live user guide or tutorials. This book is not just for the pro's, it has useful example live sets that can be downloaded from the pubishers website, to help you to learn to use Live if you are just starting out. If you are thinking whether to buy Ableton Live 7 Power or Ableton Live 7 Tips And Tricks , spend the extra money and buy Ableton Live 7 Power. Ableton Live Tips And Tricks 7 has been written well and is a fair guide to Live, but it falls short of the mark when compared to Ableton Live Power 7. Top book, and well worth the money!
Brilliant book
this book is brilliant! if you havent got the manual get this, every thing is explained here, its basically a manual, not a mixing book, so just buy it if you want to learn ableton 7.
