Synopsis
From buying and selling PC hardware to product development and selling services, "Start Your Own Computer Business: The Unembellished Guide" offers a realistic picture of making it on your own. Bestselling author, Morris Rosenthal, has 15 years of experience in the computer business, building and repairing thousands of PCs and helping hundreds of customers. The book mixes practical advice and cautions with real-world anecdotes of successes and failures. Dollars and cents play a prominent role in the book, as Rosenthal stresses that the real challenge of succeeding in the computer business is the business part of the equation. Managing employees, inventory and scarce financial resources are covered, along with how to remain sane and when to quit. The book is illustrated with a series of original cartoons on the computer business subject.

Valuable advice from a seasoned P.C. repair professional5
Every year many people start their own PC repair business, and every year many fail. One major reason is too few people do any research and consider how they are actually going to make any money.
This book is no "Get Rich Quick" manual, however it will ensure that you go into the PC repair business with a clear idea of the pitfalls and the work required if you wish to succeed.
Maurice Rosenthal speaks from experience and gives valuable advice in a clear, easy to follow manner.Although the book talks in dollars & cents these are easily transfered into pounds and pence - anyway the principles are the same. It is one thing to know how to repair a PC (if you've read Maurice's other boooks on PC repair you will be well equipped in that respect!)it is quite another thing to know how to market that skill, to whom, at what price, from what premises, what customer support to offer etc. and the book makes you consider these issues as well as offering practical advice.
On a personal level I found this book a great help in making the transition from fixing my own PC's to running a business and (most importantly) making a profit.
Thanks Maurice !

Starting Your Own Computer Business? Then Read This!5
Rosenthal's book gives invaluable advice to those thinking of starting out in the computer business. But it doesn't just stop there because this book could be the saviour of many who've already started the process but need a helping hand.

The author's style is engaging and highly readable as he takes you step by step on an often amusing journey of discovery. You learn about what it takes to succeed along with many of the pitfalls that could lead to failure.

Rosenthal's experience, humour and pathos along with a sackful of intelligent and constructive comment makes this book a must for anyone looking to start - or kickstart - their own computer business.

Sound advice but we need one for the UK4
The information in this book is very valuable but a lot of it does not apply to us here in good ol' blighty.
Regardless, the book is a good read overall and you should be able to apply some of the more US friendly material to UK laws without too much trouble.
Still well worth buying ;)
