Editorial Reviews

Review
Kitty Broihier, M.S., R.D."Food and Nutrition ConsultantAlmost every child goes through a picky-eating phase at one time or another. This no-nonsense book helps remove some of the anxiety that adults experience during these phases, and provides parents and caretakers with plenty of practical advice on coping with picky eaters.

Synopsis
Shows parents how to avoid mealtime battles, including setting rules, using strategies, and creating healthy eating habits for children.

From the Author
Meals with a picky eater don't have to be battles.
Picky eating is almost always a normal behavior in young children. However, accepting this fact when it is your child can be very difficult. You may be so worried that you fix three or four meals each night in an attempt to find something your child will eat, or you may get so angry that you issue ultimatums about the horrible consequences that await the unfortunate child who hasn't cleaned his plate. In Coping with a Picky Eater I will reassure that you don't have be concerned when your child won't eat his peas, and I will show you how to set reasonable limits for mealtime behavior for the entire family. Armed with these common sense guidelines you will be able to once again have pleasant meals together instead of ugly battles about who isn't eating what.

Customer Reviews

Excellent guide for parents5
Excellent source for parents who are frustrated by kids with poor eating habits. Great practical suggestions so you can get your kid on the right eating track and still have enjoyable family meals.

This book could be summed up in one page2
This book really only has one piece of advice: 'There's nothing you can do to make your child eat so don't bother trying, it'll only make things worse. Just create a pleasent environment in which to eat and your child will eventually sample a wider range of foods at his/her own pace'. It's a very good piece of advice, but you don't need to drag it out over 170 odd pages. There is no specific advice about what foods to try and when, and no recipes.
