"Red Mason Bees are docile bees, which are safe with children and pets. They are excellent pollinators of fruit trees, soft fruit, herbs and a wide range of other plants. These friendly and solitary bees can be attracted to nest in your garden by the provision of Red Mason Bee Nester Kits. These contain nesting tubes for the female Red Mason Bees to lay their eggs in. The nests should be placed in the garden in March and April. Once a female has laid an egg in one of these tubes, it will develop through the year into a pupae which will then overwinter in the nest and hatch as an adult bee the following spring. Available as a Large nest with 100 tubes or Small nest with 30 tubes, made from durable terracotta coloured plastic."

A fascinating experience
Mason bees are great pollinators, thirty times more effective (per bee) than honey bees. A pity there are normally so few. These nests make sure that every year you have mason bees in your garden. The nests will last many years being reused by successive generations of mason bees. The bees don't sting and a best for pollinating apples. You will get rounder fruit (all five septums of the flower having been pollinated).

Full House!
A very good product. If placed in the right position so it gets sun early morning and out of cold winds the bees love it. The first one I bought came from The Oxford Bee Company but this is exactly the same. Very likely to get both red and blue mason bees. Helps polinate the apple trees and blueberry plants. The yield has increased. I always place my tube in garage from September before frosts and back out in late March.

the bees buzzed off again
I bought this for my husband's birthday and it looks nice, well made and solid so no complaints there but unfortunately no bees have occupied it. It might be that it was just placed in the wrong position so we will try again next spring. A bit disappointing but maybe we will have better luck next year. Could only give it 3 stars as it has been vacant since we put it in the garden so not very successful. Maybe our bees are just too fussy.
