Product Description

This is the casebook of the world's only officially recognized UFO encounter that took place in the UK in December 1980. Previous accounts of the Rendlesham Forest incident have been flawed: people with axes to grind and little access to primary sources and discreditable single eyewitness accounts. Georgina Bruni has had access to police, Ministry of Defence and US military sources and her casebook reveals fresh information on the incident and the possible alien encounter that ensued. It includes interviews with those involved as well as other never-before-reported incidents in the area. The casebook also reveals details of the aftermath and the harsh treatment meted out to those who wavered from the "don't ask, don't tell" line of officialdom.

'While twenty years have passed, she brings new light to this story that just won't go away...' Major General Gordon E. Williams, USAF (Retired)

Amazon.co.uk Review
At a charity party, investigative writer Georgina Bruni asks Mrs Thatcher what she thinks of UFOs. "UFOs?" says the aging baroness, "You must get your facts right, and you can't tell the people." Hence the title of this new book on the Rendlesham Forest mystery.

One night in December 1980, two USAF patrolmen reported seeing strange lights in Rendlesham Forest in Suffolk, between the twin USAF bases at RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge. Three more US servicemen were sent to investigate. They reported seeing "a strange glowing object... metallic in appearance and triangular in shape." The following day more USAF personnel, including the deputy base commander, found three depressions in the ground and later observed strange lights in the sky.

Was this the clearest evidence ever of UFO activity in Britain, or was it just another case of misconception and delusion? Whatever the case, the resulting silence from both the USAF and Britain's Ministry of Defence has led to the Rendlesham incident being labeled "Britain's Roswell". Twenty years later, Georgina Bruni tries to piece together the facts of the story.

Bruni says, despite all probable difficulties in the investigation that, "based on all the evidence, it seems obvious that there is a continuing cover-up to hide the details of the Rendlesham Forest incident." As always with this sort of book, what conclusions you draw tends to depend on what beliefs you arrive at the scene with. Clearly, however, You Can't Tell the People is a terse and rather thorough introduction to this unsolved mystery, and certainly worth reading for anyone with an interest in UFOs and the unusual. --David V Barrett

From the Author
You Can't Tell The People by Georgina Bruni
‘UFOs? You must get your facts right, and you can’t tell the people.’ This is what Margaret Thatcher said to me in May 1997

In the height of the Cold War, RAF Bentwaters/Woodbridge in Suffolk, England, was leased to the United States Air Force (USAF), serving as a twin NATO military installation. During Christmas week 1980 the Woodbridge base was visited by several UFOs, two of which actually landed on the perimeter of the base in Rendlesham Forest. Numerous air force personnel witnessed these events and so extraordinary were they that it prompted Squadron Leader Donald Moreland, the British liaison officer to instruct Lieutenant Charles Halt, the deputy base commander to write an official memorandum to the Ministry of Defence. For three years the USAF and MOD denied the incident, but in 1983 an American research group managed to obtain the memorandum through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)

You Can’t Tell The People produces a mass of new information on this famous case which has never been published before. Witnesses claim they were interrogated by special agents and threatened into silence. I produce a covering letter (which supported the memorandum) written by Squadron Leader Donald Moreland and addressed to the MOD, which is entitled "Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOS)". This is supported with an exclusive interview with Moreland. I also examine documents that claim to be official typed witness statements taken at the time of the initial incident and intricate drawings of the UFOs and the landing sites that the witnesses made following the incident in 1980. Official USAF photographs taken the morning after the initial incident which show a British police officer and a USAF officer examining three ground indentations, each with a marker. I also located a firsthand copy of an original audio tape recording of the second major event. The tape revealed vital new information. A local civilian witness speaks out about his encounter with one of the UFOs and tells how four of his USAF friends were called back to the base on a "Red Alert". The witness also described what one of his friends had told him about the incident in the forest, which involved an encounter with a "space ship". He never saw any of his friends again. You Can’t Tell The People also produces interviews with the former AFOSI deputy commander and his wife who also witnessed the UFO. I have interviewed more than one hundred people who have assisted with my enquiries. Many of those who were involved in the events have never talked before, including Major General Gordon Williams, the commander of the installations; several high-ranking officers; NCOs and regular airmen; police and MOD employees and civilians. And there is much more...…

A hard-nosed, meticulously researched, revealing report.5
YOU CAN'T TELL THE PEOPLE There should be a subhead to this book's title: "because they won't believe you." I have just read GEORGINA BRUNI's book that takes its title from BARONESS THATCHER's statement to her "UFO's? You must get your facts right, and you can't tell the people." Dealing with the only UFO sighting in the United Kingdom to be officially acknowledged by the Ministry of Defence (MOD), it recounts - in meticulous detail - the remarkable events that took place twenty years ago in Rendlesham Forest, adjacent to the US airbases at Woodbridge in Suffolk.

From the 'grunts' patrolling the security perimeter of the airbase up to the commanding USAF Major General GORDON WILLIAMS and the British Chief of Defence Staff, LORD HILL-NORTON, there are extraordinary confirmations of what has, for years, been always been denied by the MOD as having any "defence significance."

Georgina Bruni, exhibiting the journalistic traits of a cross between a terrier and a rotweiler, has relentlessly pursued witnesses to the events. In many cases she has managed to get them to talk - on the record - for the first time, about what an official Royal Air Force document describes as: "mysterious sightings of Unidentified Flying Objects." Fascinating stuff.

I have more than a passing interest in these events. During my service as an RAF pilot at RAF Oakington, I was base liaison officer with USAF Mildenhall and also flew, on occasion, into USAF Bentwaters and I am therefore familiar with the aerodromes involved in this account. Subsequently, when living in the United States in 1965, I became an active member of NICAP - the National Investigation Committee on Aerial Phenomena. With Rear Admiral ROSCOE HILLENKOETTER (the CIA's Director of Central Intelligence) and Colonel JOSEPH BRYAN III Chief of the CIA's Psychological Warfare Staff (and former Special Assistant to the Secretary for the Air Force) as key executives of NICAP, and many CIA Intelligence Officers as overt or covert members, NICAP was a serious organisation. They would have welcomed a serious book like this.

An thorough investigation into the UK's Greatest UFO Mystery5
On first seeing the title "You Can't Tell The People" you could be forgiven for thinking that what you are about to read is a full and frank confession from Barroness Thatcher that for years the Governments in both the UK and the USA have been keeping the general public in the dark as to the exhistance and subsequent contact with UFO's and extra terrestrial beings.

However once you start reading the book you suddnely find yourself engrossed in reading about alledged alien contact, secret service agents (MIB's) making large scale threats of personal injury and or even death, secret UK/USA governemt test on all kinds of weird and wonderful technology.

For anyone with and interest in this subject this book is a must.

An excellent book on Rendlesham that makes you think.4
Having now retired from Ufology I read this book in the hope that somebody could, at last, disentangle the claims and skeptical counterclaims made about the evidence relating to this important "UFO" incident.

Bruni has done an excellent job and provided us with information that allows us to read the various participants testimony, primary source material, and judge for ourselves. Very few UFO books do this...

This is the only book on Ufology to actually make me think again about an incident that I had written off. I suspect that UFO/Paranormal researchers and the public have become confused, largely as a result of claims that a lighthouse was responsible for the events of December 1980.

Of course, the lighthouse was not responsible as anybody who has visited the site (I've been there) can attest.

For the first time we are presented with a full picture of the events, all the current testimony and some new and startling facts about the case...

You Can't Tell The People comes highly recommended by a former Ufologist who left the subject because of the machinations of the skeptics that Georgina Bruni has blown away through her research. The skeptics claim that Rendlesham researchers "need another Roswell" incident when the facts of this British case are entirely different.

I myself have heard tell of the leak of "nuclear particulates" from the Sizewell A facility in late December 1980. There may be a link, we just don't know. There is now little doubt that something of the greatest significance occured.

Buy this book and do your bit for the truth...
