Highly complex and fascinating if true
I read the book three times, strolled near the apartment complex where it happened, and even spoke to some people in the building.Most didnt know anything about it although one lady told me that people told her that the street was lit up. She however,slept through the night without incident. My question to Mr. Hopkins: How come you did not make a greater effort to track down witnesses in this neighborhood where thousands LIVE? You wrote in your book that you d9id not know how. Also- Did any new witnesses come forward since the book came out? Why dont you have a website where people can ask these questions? One more- How was your witness able to sketch the area so well after seeing the object only a few minutes on the bridge? If you will not answer these and other questions people will always doubt your story. Otherwise the book is a great read.

Highly detailed case study.
This whole book is a very detailed account of one UFO occurance in 1989 over 400 pages of small type. I had never read any case in nearly as much detail as this. The author - ufologist Budd Hopkins - is intimately involved in the story himself, having become very well acquainted with the female central to the abduction and her family and becoming good friends, as well as forming friendships - albeit bizarre ones given that they had never met - with two security guards involved in the abduction. The 'cast' of characters grows and eventually a very complex jigsaw puzzle is presented to the researcher. This case is something that Budd had been working on for several years before this book, and in the account are a large number of transcriptions of his interviews or correspondence with the people involved, including many hypnotic regression interviews, most of which recorded on tape or even on film. Budd researched deeply into the backgrounds of the people involved and over the months and years, new and startling revelations would arrive in another letter from someone involved that would link another piece of the jigsaw. The basic story of this case is of an abduction that several people saw, and importantly, including some powerful political figures who remain unnamed, although Budd did meet and talk to one of these political figures. The inter-relations of the humans in this account are complex and there is even a sense of mythology about the events that happened. The conclusions drawn at the end are grim, though reader's of Colin Wilson's 'Alien Dawn' will realise that ends on a more optimistic evaluation. Overall I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the ufo phenomenon who wishes to read a very detailed case study in which the author researched deeply for years, where the case was even a major part of his life. This is a very detailed study and a superb piece of research work. It must have been very difficult to compile so much data into a coherant thesis, but it is done excellently and the narrative flows logically. Hopkins must be one of the foremost paranormal researchers.

The book for everyone to read
This and Budds' previous 2 books, Missing Time and Intruders, are the virtual bibles of UFOlogists. Credibility has long ceased to be a question, the information and facts are staggering. We are all left just waiting for the big day - the day when someone in authority admits the truth, the truth that they know what's going on. It hardly needs to be said, but this is a must for just about everyone that can read
